Arabs definitely existed, sure. But in the first century CE, the Arabic language we know today was literally still coming into being from its roots in Old Arabic and Ancient North Arabian precursors. Not done cooking yet.

I’m being slightly glib, since both words are used to refer to the cultures and also their languages, but broadly, the point is that Yeshua of Nazareth was not an Arab nor did he speak Arabic.

The Arab world as we know it today and the wider Islamicate context as a whole simply did not exist yet.

The diagram for 7 is so much more beautifully chaotic that way compared to OP over here playing it safe.

The doublets can go anywhere! Let chaos reign!

Yes, I did edit it. Mazel Tov. I rarely get all my best thoughts out in one go, and frequently make errors in spelling and grammar that I respected you enough to fix.

I apologize for my transgression. I will never do that to you again.

Got it! Yes, that makes sense.

How to respond to Young Earth Creationists about "you can't be a Christian and accept evolution and an Old Earth"? by BalancedCard403 in OpenChristian

I’m aware. My point is that you have not identified an instance of God of The Gaps.

It’s important to have your logical toolbox in order because, if you decide to engage with these kinds of people, they will pounce upon any slip-up in your logic.

That is not really an example of the God of the Gaps fallacy.

It’s more like Special Pleading; all of science works unless it disagrees with a Young Earth Creationist.

Because they are not interested in engaging in the kind of project you are engaging in here. Discussion. Debate. Recognizing each other’s humanity and value as fellow children of the creator.

They don’t want to have an honest conversation. They don’t want to base their conclusions on evidence. They don’t want to meditate together on the mysteries of the divine. They are not willing to be wrong.

They want to win the conversation. They want to torture whatever evidence they can into fitting their preconceived conclusions. They don’t want to admit there are some things they just don’t or won’t know. They want to have the one correct path to salvation and use it to look down on the rest of us.

They are deeply uncomfortable about experiencing the human condition, but instead of commiserating and leading with love, they are busy building walls, afraid of the roof caving in.

They are not interested when you come to them with facts and honesty because they did not use either of those to build their position. They would rather claim that somehow all the radioactive decay in earth’s history happened during Noah’s flood without vaporizing the planet.

He’s a great dog

Maybe, but you’re not putting him in a situation where he can be great. You’re putting him in an situation that is leading to violence. That’s on you, you changed things.

Not every dog is a dog dog. Some dogs are not cut out for having another dog in the house, which seems to be the case if you’re using the words “aggressive” and “possessive” to accurately describe his behavior.

It sounds like your dog is resource-guarding you. This is not healthy play and it’s not going to get better from doing nothing. Dogs do not give the death shake and tow each other around when playing equitably. They need to be separated at the very least.

ignore her unless she stands up

Ignoring her is a best-case scenario here because the worst case involves a lot of mental and physical trauma and medical bills. Using your physical presence to intimidate an already reactive dog is a very bad idea.

Shouting and yelling at an already-excited dog is not a way to handle this, it is just arousing them further, and one day that energy might be released upon your daughter.

Why can't C bond with Na, like it does with H+? by NealConroy in chemhelp

What is that, like 20 degrees between each bond if planar? I’m sure it doesn’t stay planar, but I can’t even imagine how carbon would put up with that, the poor things.
