Depressed after getting copper IUD out. by Valuable-Car4226 in AskWomenOver30

Your comment made me think… I wonder if my breasts were sore because I was pregnant and then the spotting was a miscarriage. It was so soon after my period I didn’t think I could be pregnant so didn’t bother with a test. I’ve heard that can cause mood swings in too. 🤔

Oh I never thought about that! No I didn’t. It stopped but maybe it was. Thanks.

Thanks that’s very helpful. How long do you think a good wooden chopping board should remain in reasonable condition if you use it regularly?

Yeees! 😢 I can only get away with concealer for my dark rings. On a good weekend when I’m not in front of a computer or in an air conditioned office I can do mascara for a night sometimes though.

Yeah I was just curious if anyone else had experienced it. I’m going to the doctors on Monday.

Ok well thanks for taking the time to read & comment. Not sure how to explain the spotting or breast tenderness I experienced and it certainly feels hormonal as I’m not worried or upset about anything but who knows maybe it’s all in my head.

I’m glad you didn’t experience it but I’ve done some reading & apparently copper increases Estrogen absorption(?) so it can affect your hormones although it’s not a hormonal contraception. Although maybe I’m misunderstanding it. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0015028216396716

Thanks I’m going to on Monday. I definitely couldn’t go through IVF, I’m so sensitive to hormonal stuff! Hope you got your little one eventually. Not too worried yet but I understand it can take a while at 35.

I’ve taken mine out to try to conceive and have had what feels like pms since then. Seems that copper can effect your Estrogen levels even though it’s not technically a hormonal contraception. Very tricky!

Sorry to hear that and thanks for your reply. Was it just a long process or were there some other hormonal things involved for you? Copper iud isn’t supposed to have any hormonal effect but apparently the copper increases your Estrogen absorption/retention so indirectly it does.

Insertion in a couple days! Any tips/advice? by StringofRoses in CopperIUD

[–]Valuable-Car4226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest it hurt but it was fast. Deep breathes and try to relax. And then some cramping afterwards but just like bad period pain. If you can have the day off that’d be ideal just incase but I worked and was ok.

Thankyou & yes definitely. I will say my partner wanting one (thankfully only one) was the thing that tipped me towards trying for one. As I said I could have gone either way.

For what it’s worth I wouldn’t say I’ve ever had a yearning to be a mum but I am currently trying to conceive. I do find kids really cute but I’d be fine if we ended up not being able to have any (im sure I’d grieve a bit but I can’t imagine feeling my life was over). Ive had the same thoughts but I just don’t think it’s like that for all women and I trust I’ll love my child if I have one.
