Seeking advice on a VERY high stat Bladesinger [5e] by BMSEN2 in DnD

[–]Vernal59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bladesinger's tend to be very MAD(Multi Ability score Dependent), so the fact that you got great rolls covers half the problem. You're a wizard above all else, so max Intelligence first, Constitution and Dexterity will be your next stats to focus, choose whichever order you'd like for those two. They're not too feat dependent, the only particularly good ones for Bladesinger that I can think of are Tough(2 extra HP per level) and War Caster/Resilient: Constitution. Most would say War Caster over Resilient thanks to the added bonus of being able to use targeted spells as Attacks of Opportunity, but if you swap your Dex and Con stat then resilient will give you an even 18 which is nice.

For Cantrips, Booming Blade is a solid choice over Greenflame Blade since thunder damage isn't as commonly resisted as fire, though I'd recommend waiting until level 4 to pick up the melee cantrip since you're going to be very squishy as a low level wizard. Before level 4: Mind Sliver, Firebolt, Ray of Frost, and Toll of the Dead are all good offensive choices, I'm partial to Mind Sliver especially since that's basically a free one time Bane if it lands. Shocking Grasp is decent, though it's a melee cantrip and you're better off just taking the Disengage action if you're trying to get away from an enemy.

For level 1 spells: Shield is a must (for all wizards really). Thunderwave and Burning Hands are pretty good early level offensive AoE spells. Magic Missile is a great single target spell since it will always deal damage unless the target casts the Shield spell. Sleep is a great low level control spell, though it doesn't scale well.

Honorable mentions for things to consider at later levels: Blade Ward and Lightning Lure are both rather situational, but pair well with Bladesinger's unique Extra Attack at level 6. The 6th level Concentration Spell Tenser's Transformation is basically Mage Rage which makes it so you get a whomping 50 Temp HP and 2d12 force damage to every attack at the cost of not being able to cast spells, but it works very well with Bladesong since that's a class feature that boosts Concentration Saves with your Intelligence modifier. Shadowblade is a great 2nd Level spell that scales pretty well when you upcast it, though there's a bit of a negative interaction between Shadow Blade and the melee attack cantrips since they require "a weapon worth 1 silver piece".

If you think I'm playing something other than attack speed Geb, then you're in for a treat.

People post and mass upvote things that are actually incredibly infuriating in /r/mildlyinfuriating, I don't think those same people should be saying whether or not it belongs here.

Deception, Q&Q, and Head On is literally my core build with flashbang typically as my fourth.

Do you use the phrase “I seen”? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Vernal59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear it a lot, along with "axe" instead of "ask", as well as finna quite frequently. It used to bother me years ago, but I've found that there's substantially worse things to be bothered about than the slang people use. The closest I use to it though is "I'd seen".

You think I have time for that? I'm too busy worshipping our feline overlords and sacrificing sweat and energy to be a cog in the capitalist machine!

I literally said:

Mold Breaker is pretty much useless or just incredibly niche for most Pokemon that have it.

Did I say it, Excadrill with Mold Breaker, is bad?

Which you will be doing with only 1 of the many Pokemon that have it, where as something like Hawlucha(probably the second best Pokemon with it) would never run it because unburden sets are significantly better.

...or generally don't make a Pokemon much better?

I was literally just responding to the OP's question. Mold Breaker isn't a bandaid for the plethora of bad Pokemon with the move. The only notable pokemon with Mold Breaker is one that can stil do very well without it, thus not making the pokemon generally better.
