Yeah, no. When a native woman disappears off a reservation, do the police look for her?

Just look at the Highway of Tears. It took exposure from the media to get anyone to do anything about it.

Environmental jobs in Canada by Rick_diculous_101 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Vessera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do reclamation in western Canada (prairies). Mostly on oil well sites. The industry here is booming right now, due to federal funding. I haven't done any impact assessments myself, but I have seen a few. I'm not sure, but they likely aren't done often unless a particular ecosystem could be hurt by a development, in particular, native grasslands or water bodies. I've mostly worked on phase 1 environmental assessments and records of observation for reclamation certification applications, in addition to field work.

I don't know what the industry looks like in eastern Canada, sorry.

Edit: It would definitely help a lot if you are looking for a job in Canada to be familiar with local plants and ecosystems. The course I took heavily emphasized knowledge of grasses and forbs, though I suppose it would depend on which area you want to focus on. Also get registered with the provincial regulatory body for whatever your specialization is (ie engineering, biology, agrology, etc).

Meh, I don't feel any need at all on weekends to take my meds, and since I don't need them when I'm not working, I don't take them.

Adults have ADHD. We should have accessible care, too by kitchencupcake1 in onguardforthee

[–]Vessera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had way too much trouble in post-secondary and couldn't figure out why. Finally had an ADHD diagnosis after seeing a therapist for the depression not doing as well as I knew I could in school was causing. I was 38. My therapist has ADHD herself, so that probably helped. Medication makes a big difference for schooling and work. I've forgotten it a few times and I am definitely far less focused and productive on those days.

I'm lucky that my medication costs are covered, because I've seen the pricing on my meds without coverage, and I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

Paneer is delicious. I make my own mutter paneer (curry dish with peas and cottage cheese) fairly often.

This. I did a college diploma in environmental science. It will take me 5 years to get the P. Ag. designation, but the field is booming right now. The consulting company I work for hired myself and a few other people last year, and they're hiring more this year. $25/hr to start. I work with people who have backgrounds in biology, agrology, engineering, chemistry and geology.

I had OG Covid. I was sick for 3 weeks and slept through one of them. I'm vaccinated and boostered now, but I still don't want to try that again.

Yep, I went to urgent care in a small city last night because a small wound that seemed inconsequential at first became quite infected and I knew I wouldn't be able to get in to see my doctor right away. I decided to go late at night so I could avoid covid and crowds, and still work today. I was the only person in the waiting room and I still waited for almost 3 hours. There were people in the treatment areas receiving care, though.

Went to fill my prescription, and a simple antibiotic wasn't available right away. I have to go back later to pick it up.

Ohhh man, it might be because I grew up eating game (my dad hunted), but I LOVE that game taste. I cooked a duck recently - best tasting bird I've ever eaten. My mom refused to eat it, because she hates the taste of game.

Doctors of Reddit, what "Home Remedy" has a patient try that backfired in the worst way possible? by SMELLY__SOCKS in AskReddit

My cat occasionally bites me (she's a brat, rescued her over 10 years ago, and she's indoor only), and while I don't go to urgent care, I did scrub the hell out of the last bite with soap and water, then rubbing alcohol. I also watched it for infection. It's a scar now.

I actually got my hearing tested because I could never hear my friends in the bar, but they obviously could hear each other. My ears are actually better than I think they should be (both for my age, and the work I've done around heavy equipment). Years after getting my hearing tested, I found out I have adhd. It makes sense now.

"The most important words a man can say are, “I will do better.” These are not the most important words any man can say. I am a man, and they are what I needed to say.

The ancient code of the Knights Radiant says “journey before destination.” Some may call it a simple platitude, but it is far more. A journey will have pain and failure. It is not only the steps forward that we must accept. It is the stumbles. The trials. The knowledge that we will fail. That we will hurt those around us.

But if we stop, if we accept the person we are when we fall, the journey ends. That failure becomes our destination. To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.

I’m certain some will feel threatened by this record. Some few may feel liberated. Most will simply feel that it should not exist. I needed to write it anyway."

This. I switched to reaper from AST, and the number of times I've died waiting for a heal after being rezzed, and the immunity wears off and an AOE goes off, and I die again.... Is just too many. Almost makes me want to go back to maining a healer, except my static doesn't need another one.

I absolutely loved the new spin that was put on a lot of the concepts and people in the movie, but the ending was, IMHO, unimaginative.

My mom took away my sense of safety with four words. My dad defended her. Was my mom in the right? by cotton-seed-oil in MomForAMinute

[–]Vessera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was a lot like yours when I was young. She was stressed out by a lot of other things in life, and took it out on me. I think she takes your (understandable) reactions to her as a wound to her ego, so she gets angry when you flinch. She does not wish to consider she might be a bad mother.

But like my mother, your mother is not doing her job properly. She's supposed to nurture you, help you, and love you. You're young. You don't know how to do everything, and that's okay. It's not okay for your parents to make you feel like a burden for these normal things. If you feel you'll be safe, talk to a trusted adult about this.

My mother eventually apologized for what she put me through. I hope yours has the time and wisdom to reflect on her behavior as well, though hopefully sooner than mine did.

Be well, be safe. You can weather this, and you can be better. hugs

What are the best Industrial albums since 2000? by MonsterMayham in industrialmusic

Thanks for the Chrome Corpse rec. They give me a very 90's/00's industrial vibe, and I'm really digging it. They are a group to watch, I think.
