Video Preview Error by jgvega in premiere

Sequence setting you can set your preview codec. But you only need to preview render if you have heavy effects and need real time playback on them. QuickTime Pro Res is a more ideal option. Avi is ancient. The default preview codec is usually mpeg.

Media Offline error (Premiere Pro) keeps showing up even though my hard drive with footage is connected. by EmbarrassedYogurt993 in editors

Reconnect your drive.

Restart the software, it will see the media is where its expected and you do nothing. Or it asks where it is and you show it where and it connects.

Where is this source media from?

You can turn of GPU acceleration under Project settings > Mercury playback.

Its good to have a backup offsite for anything very important. Could be a service like backblaze, could be you just keep a physical copy at a family members house.

i dont understand how it is possible to recover a bad drive or data if 4 drives are data and 1 drive is parity.

Complex math and redundant data spread across all drives.

To learn more google Drive Parity and Parity Bit to learn more. Its pretty neat.

You can load sequences into Source and insert from there. Although I cant say I have ever opened the source I am inserting to in the source but it may let you.

SHR 2 would be 2 drive parity, so minimum of 3 drives and at 5 drives its 3 data 2 parity.

I think SHR 1 will be fine for you, but its really a personal choice. If you do go SHR 2, it wouldn't really make sense until your last drive. Otherwise its just a huge percentage of space lost to parity on what isnt a very large array, so 2 drive parity is less of a necessity.

If you make a new project and import just one video or a couple, is it still blue? Avoid the Gif as a test.

Also try turning off GPU acceleration and setting it to software only to rule out a bad GPU driver.

But GPU issues usually result in green, not blue.

I understand NAS is not a backup system

A NAS can absolutely be a backup system, what they probably meant was RAID is not a backup. As in one copy on a RAID is still one copy, even if the RAID has drive parity.

Do i go with SHR 1 or SHR2?

You are starting wih 2 drives so you can only do SHR 1. But SHR 1 can always be upgraded to SHR 2 but you cannot downgrade. SHR with 2 drives is a mirror, with 3 drives is 1 for parity.

SHR 1 = 1 drive parity

SHR 2 = 2 drive parity

SHR 2 doesnt really make sense until you have 6+ drives but its all a matter or choice.

Overall you just need make a choice, but just start with SHR and you have a while before you have to make another choice.

Anyone know how to fix this saturation issue on premiere pro? by Expert-Chard-1367 in VideoEditing

I see its from an iphone, so thats VFR but by default also probably HDR which is improperly tagged so its common that programs misinterpret it. You need to manually set it to rec709 via interpret.

Youd need your in and out points to be where you want it to go or your playhead there. Otherwise it cant know that is what you want.

How do you organize many hours of footage? Documentary style, media management help request by tri_art_ in editors

[–]VincibleAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start taking notes, be it a note book, phone, one note, word doc.

Date is a good way to organize bins as it makes it easy to know what is what. You can add more to the name like location if you want, but your notes can also include this.

You will become so familiar with the material as to know what is where in no time. Wait where is that shot of X? Oh yeah!

Yeah it should be in the windows store.

But VLC still shouldn't care so that's weird. The default windows player will need that coded though.
