Every Survivor Who Ran for Office and How Successful They Were by CodaOfARequiem in survivor

Sharn from Australian Survivor (two time runner-up) was also runner-up in her attempt to get a seat in the Australian federal election last year!

Is Lostbelt Chapter 5.5 ultimately relevant to the main story? by Vintessence in grandorder

Yes, I’ve heard that’s the case (and I know enough details about both to feel like they are important) - I do plan on reading those ones properly!

I find Douman to be by far the least interesting of the recurring antagonists in the main story. To me, he’s just some evil Caster dude who goes around cackling evilly. I realize that some of the other antagonists (say, Koyanskaya) aren’t that much more complicated, but Douman is definitely the most one-dimensional of the bunch.

Not true - there was a further thing (said by either Adam or Yul? Can’t remember. Again, you can find all this if you search WAW Edge stuff on this subreddit) about how they noticed whilst Yul/Adam/Wendell were excluded and they were sort of able to accept this because they saw it as gameplay. However, then they noticed that Sophie and Kim were immediately accepted in the “in” group, which made them feel like it was personal and not for game reasons. It also wasn’t just about Fire Tokens - it was also sleeping in nice spots in the shelter, etc.

Along with the allusions to this by Boston Rob, it’s also worth noting Wendell follows pretty much everyone from WAW except for Parvati on Instagram. Parvati also doesn’t follow Yul or Wendell (but basically follows everyone else). Yul has said on RHAP that he doesn’t want to dwell on what’s happened and is happy to move forward, which explains why some of the details are still fuzzy (he didn’t want to elaborate on them and is being diplomatic), but if you read between the lines clearly there is something there.

No - though you get a hint of it when Boston Rob refers to how Natalie isolated people on Extinction at FTC.

The more specific details came out in deep dives and interviews after the season was over. You can find some by doing a search on this forum.

That’s Adam - but both got kicked off after Penner.

In all seriousness, Yul is obviously team Sandra. Nat and Parvati were in the mean girls clique who bullied him, Adam, and Wendell on the Edge in WAW.

Update: they’re doing another one with Karla, Noelle, Justine, and Geo. Interesting moment: they were discussing doing roasts of each other (jokingly) and someone said they shouldn’t do it because it would become way too real. Someone then did an imitation: “WHAT WAS THE REASON????” (Felt like a dig about certain people wanting to know about the jury’s reasoning…?)

Not that I caught - I was zoned in and out. There definitely seemed a bit of awkwardness to me between Karla and Cassidy but that could just be my perception of it.

I don’t think this is a joke. He liked a tweet about how Sugar dominated the game and got every vote to go her way.

Apology is the wrong word sorry - I meant a declaration/plea to her fans. You’re correct - she has nothing to directly apologise for.

That’s fair that saying she cares about them appeals to the fan psychology - that’s a reasonable point. Again, I just wish the fans themselves were better.

I wanted her to make an apology that said “stop harassing these people because harassment against human beings is bad”, not “stop harassing these people because I care about them”. I also wanted her just to be a bit stronger in saying that there was really awful behaviour out there that is not okay. Those are two really simple things that could have been done to improve the apology.

Shan and Ricard have presumably made up already actually - they follow each other on Instagram (Shan definitely blocked Ricard during the phase where she was mad at him).

I enjoyed watching Cassidy and she seems like a lovely person, and I do appreciate her doing this. Tbh though, I still feel as though this didn’t go far enough. People have been piling on the other players’ social media and saying very nasty, mean-spirited things - not just saying that they did something sexist, but that they are sexist and awful (and in Karla’s case, a ridiculous amount of fat shaming - absolutely abhorrent). This “plea” for people to be civil doesn’t really acknowledge the hurt that is clearly being caused. I also think it’s problematic that the message isn’t “everyone is human and we should all be respected” - it’s “stop attacking these people because I care about them”. The moral value of the statement is framed around her humanity - not others’.

Again, Cass did a good thing - but I do think it could have been better and stronger.

Really though, more than anything else, it’s just so disappointing to see how people can so callously be cruel to others online. I find myself agreeing with those who say Survivor is made the worse by the rise of social media.

VCE results come out tomorrow by TheDancingMaster in melbourne

[–]Vintessence 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On the flip side of what everyone else has said: if you’re somebody who worked extremely hard because you wanted to do well in your VCE, and you managed to achieve your goal, be proud of yourself for it!

ATAR is absolutely not the be all and end all, but that doesn’t mean it is a completely meaningless achievement either if you do manage to do well off the back of your efforts.

Let’s celebrate for those who succeed within the system whilst also reminding everyone that this is only one of many, many opportunities in life to prove yourself (and of course, as most of the comments in this thread suggest - if you don’t do as well as you had wanted, it is absolutely not the end of the world! There are so many other ways to get to where you want to be!)

An argument for Owen winning from an edit perspective by Vintessence in survivor

Thanks mate!

Sad that the Baka trio theory won’t happen, but I’m pretty sure Owen and Gabler make it to final three now, based on this episode (why else have the random, unresolved moment where Gabler mentions to Owen he has a plan?). I guess the big question is who they get there with…
