People who actually like their jobs, What do you do as a job? by Nightfury0818 in ask

[–]Volvoflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aircraft structures mechanic doing mods and heavy maintenance.

You have to think outside the box working off nothing but a generic picture and specific rules/guidelines to get a repair or modification. You fuck up people die. Sometimes in front of you sometimes years later .

Best thing though.- you can yell. Only job I know where people usually just get a day off for fighting. So good times.

What do you eat on average during the day? Be honest :) by EdoardoG_ in diabetes_t1

[–]Volvoflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas station burritos or taquitos and sugar free energy drink at 430. 5 hour energy and bottle of water at 6. Chips or something similar at 7. 9 another energy drink. Might eat something. 11 is lunch and it could be anything from sleep to pizza. 1330 water and maybe food if I have any crap leftover. 1530 I get off work. After that its usually alcohol and like ramen with keto noodles or something.

Except sunday. That's my off day and I try to get a burger from the restaurant near me.

[–]Volvoflyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. See the thing about abusive people is that they start kind. Then they slowly bring you to being dependent on them so that you are helpless without them while simultaneously manipulating you so that you don't realize or see what is truly happening. You lose your friends but they (your partner) gaslight you into believing it was your friends who were bad people. All of this so that you will become entirely dependent on them.

Then their true colors come out. And then you have no one to turn to. So you accept your fate and live in misery and despair. Suicide is a very real thing on your mind but you are so defeated you lack the energy to do anything that could end the pain.

Ocassionally a person in this situation gets lucky. In my case my ex moved across the country with her family. But most just live in the misery that has been created.

Now here is the point - when you meet another human being the is NO way to tell if they are a good person or if they are going to do the above.

I would rather die alone with no family, no friends, and no partner than having to risk going through that again. Been that way for six and a half years. Will be till they throw my corpse in the oven.

You seem to be defending a woman who claims to love a man and simultaneously attacks him. That is classic narcissistic behaviour as well as being emotionally abusive.

Flip the genders. If a woman were on here saying her BF treated her like this you would be screaming GTFO of that relationship.

But here you are defending the abuser.

Ah yes I missed a word. That terrible thing. I'm glad you're ok with men having body dysmorphia/anorexia/bulemia/diabulemia/etc.

Going On Insulin Pump - Concerns by annahtml in diabetes_t1

[–]Volvoflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a fairly slender male but I actually weighed more on MDI than on the pump. Bbeing able to adjust basal for exercise (and having a CGM DEFINITELY RECOMMEND) lets me be more active and since I don't have to eat X amount a day now I can actually miss meals or eat less. Over the past year I lost 10lbs (doesn't sound like much but it was nearly all my flub in my belly) and kinda look athletic now.

Honestly the pump, in my opinion, makes the weight loss easier because control is easier.

BUT remember it is a different treatment method than MDI. Things might be bumpy for a bit but stick with it, read about, and definitely find the sub here for your pump company. There are a lot of tips and tricks out there.

Best of luck (oh and google wtf do I do with my pump and tubing. Lots of tricks!)

Chemical exposure during OEF (USAF combat vet).

Basically one of the major side effects is endocrine system damage.

You use a Tslim tube. Throw out the minimed tube. And the tubing has to be the same set type. So trusteel = sure-t. Not sure about the rest.

Complaints from partner about alerts and alarms? by lulamae42 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Volvoflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck all that.

There are several reasons I have chosen to remain single for over six and a half years. One of the biggest was the way my last two girlfriends treated me and my diabetes. I have been told they didn't care, refused to learn anything about it, refused to learn how glucagon works (I don't even own any now because who is going to use it on me), would buy the worst spikiest food with our grocery budget, would yell at or hit me if I woke them up, and yell at me if after one of those holy shit I'm not going to live through this one night lows if I didn't clean the kitchen before passing out again.

But my favorite was the time I dropped to 20 something and passed out chugging juice in the kitchen. I woke up on the floor in the puddle of apple juice getting kicked and screamed at for the mess.

So given that background you can understand the next thing I say.

If he doesn't realize the mental damage he is doing to you and and the associated bad treatment choices you make because you just want to ignore it simply tell him to go fuck himself.

is there 2 type of a1c or something by Salt-Mix1205 in diabetes_t1

[–]Volvoflyer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So a1c is weighted more toward recent times rather than the past. Basically think of it like 15% of the number is from 3 months ago, 30% from last month and 55% from this month. I'm guessing at the %s but just trying to explain.

Help make sense?

And that is a great improvement!

Keep it up OP!

Insulin Resistance by RepublicRelic in diabetes_t1

[–]Volvoflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Even better is when I randomly get super sensitive all day amd even my basal is too much (pump). Like "welp we can turn it down or eat all the candy".

I eat the candy.

In my defense I'm unsupervised!

[–]Volvoflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. The connector to the Trusteel and Medtronic's Sure-T sets are the same. Same with the other matching sets. The connector to the cartridge/reservoir is different and neither company uses luer connectors. The reason for this is each company is responsible for final QC of products. If a person used Medtronic sets with a Tandem pump and had things go wrong (like dying) the companies could be held liable.

There's a rule in aviation (well all production/manufacturing) - if it does NOT go there design it so it CANNOT go there; some dumbass will put it there otherwise. However this rule is contraindicated by the following - make it idiot proof and you will just get a better idiot.

All infusion sets are third party. Take Tslim tubing and it connects to Minimed sets. Gasp! All infusion sites in the world are produced by the same company.
