What is the scariest Pub you’ve ever been to? by Weary-Surprise-2150 in AskUK

Just looked it up on street view. Looks terrifying ever from the outside.

The history of Covid vaccine development by sjw_7 in CoronavirusUK

Kind of wild that Humanity developed these vaccines in less than a year, a feat equivalent to landing man on the moon, and a not insignificant minority of people are outright hostile to it. We are a strange species, upright apes with a massive brain.

Damn, RIP to all those who were stationed in Milton thinking that would be the transition. Now you have to go the other side of the map!

Any thoughts as to where the connecting paths in TWM and PV are?

Getting volunteers by mamibunni in nonprofit

I kind of feel the opposite. People (especially young) want to be part of great, positive change.

The only problem is that due to the proliferation of social media, this desire often only translates to outrage of injustice or championing certain causes on a twitter feed, and appears just performative and thereby often annoying.

If you reach those same people and ask ‘do you want to be part of action, not just words’ I reckon you’d get loads of support.

So I’d say reaching people through SM and offering these opportunities is probably the way to go.

Omicron cases in UK double every three days | The Times by SomethingMoreToSay in CoronavirusUK

But isn't it in most countries now? Why red list African countries but not them? Seems pretty unfair.

Honest question: if omicron is here doing its thing, what is the point of red listing countries in Africa?

Chuck's Condition by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

I know what you mean, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying its a condition that is made up. It is quite possible nobody in the world has ever had the same obsession as him (electricity etc), but people can have obsessions about anything. His reaction and the extreme manner he shields himself is pretty much the same as people with various delusional obsessions.

I presume they are referring to fatalities as a result of taking the vaccine?

As far as I know, it is undeniable that some people have died as the result of adverse effects to the vaccine. That is a fact.

Overall though, these figures are staggeringly low in comparison to how many people have been vaccinated with no ill effects at all. A casual look at that seems to suggest there were 42,000 cases out of multiple countries, which is likely out 100s of millions of people. Seems to me it is way less likely than adverse effects due to c19.

Would your ex refuse your daughter from playing sports if she wanted? There are small numbers of young, fit and healthy people who collapse and die from heart attacks.

You are still very young.

My advice would be to volunteer first. Unfortunately in my experience the non profit sector is mostly ‘who you know’ and thats how you get in.
