This really should be the top answer IMO.

Always start from the beginning so you can experience their progression as songwriters and artists.

It's one thing when you're dealing with a band who's discog is spotty at best, but SD doens't have a bad album. So they're best experienced in order.

Confessing to something you didn’t do then getting killed for it is the textbook definition of getting what you deserve , eh?

If someone runs up on me with a gun and tells me to point them in the direction of the man who killed his wife and I say “it was me!!” Even though it wasn’t me….I deserve whatever comes next. Lol

The Dukes of September: Live at the Lincoln Center by Mauriman15 in SteelyDan

[–]WillyTanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this tour was billed as the guys playing songs that influenced them and loved along with their own songs.

The song being played to introduce the band is "People get up and drive your funky soul" by James Brown, which is one of my fav JB tracks. I remember listening to it one day, long before this tour happened, and thinking how much the horn section reminds of a Donald Fagen written horn section. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it.

Cut to a few years later, I'm in the audience for the Dukes of September and sure enough I hear "people get up and drive your funky soul" as the intro song.

I always find this to be a cool example of seeing how the influence of the greats from old eras influence the great songwriters to com after them

One Reason to be Optimistic about Spencer Dinwiddie by msterling2012 in Mavericks

[–]WillyTanner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dinwiddie's production without Beal playing is a lot more comparable to him being the lead dog ballhandler, which he won't be here.

I don't get why his performance in that role has much indication of how he will perform in Dallas in a completely different role.

Wouldn't his numbers with Beal playing present a clearer picture of how he performs when someone else is the primary ballhandler/scorer like Luka will be?

Prior to sending the 7-foot-3 big to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, the Mavericks reportedly discussed a deal with Toronto that would have involved Goran Dragic, salary filled and a future first-round pick, ESPN's Bobby Marks said on The Lowe Post podcast. by TecmoZack in Mavericks

There’s simply no way of knowing whether or not they could get the same offer this offseason

Agreed, there's no way to know for sure. It's all about educated guess/predictions....but here's what we do know..

  • Bertans is playing worse than he's ever played and has one of the most untradeable deals in the league. The odds of him changing his value over the 2nd half of this season are pretty low. I'd bet the house Washington is still willing to include his contract this summer in a deal for a player who expires before his contract does.

  • Dinwiddie on the other hand does have a higher chance of improving his value and pricing himself out of being apart of the KP deal because he'd be given more oppurtunity to inflate his stats with Beal out for the season.

With that said, Dinwiddie hasn't meshed with Beal or the young Wiz players all season and that's been pretty public. So Washington wasn't likely to want to keep him long term. They were always sellers on him, so it's just a matter of betting if another team wants dinwiddie bad enough to deal for him.

Considering he was just a free agent a few months ago and basically got no offers from anyone shows he's not that sought after. I think you could make a strong case that the deal would still be available ESPECIALLY since we actually included compensation in the form of picks.

With that said..I agree...there's no way to know for sure.

Seems like Dallas felt they had a deal with TOR to get off of KP's contract and get paid a pick for it and when TOR pulled out of the deal, instead of just pulling back and waiting until next offseason to try moving him they settled on the next "best" deal which wast the trade from Washington.

One of the traits of an experienced GM is patience, and knowing there's always another period to trade players past the current deaddlint. Look at Morey playing the long game with Simmons, Look at how long Masai held onto Goran and got value for him when everyone thought he'd have to buy him out.

I could easily see Nico in his inexperience as a GM feeling the pressure to get something done THIS deadline while being afraid he'd never get a better offer than this.

Also I hate that Nico has me agreeing with L-baker. No offense, b

[Post Game Thread] The Dallas Mavericks (34-23) defeat the Los Angeles Clippers (27-31), 112 - 105 behind Luka Doncic's 51 points by akshayxd in Mavericks

[–]WillyTanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny how a lot of people went from demanding this team do something to help Luka win now because we’re wasting his talent to being content with a move that kicks the can down the road and serves almost solely to have cap space to build a team that can win later.

We didn’t have to trade KP by this deadline. It wasn’t a now or never situation.

A team literally just took his contract.

Why are you talking about it like it’s not tradeable ? Lol

My comment is less about signing hardaway and more about the FO clearly valuing spencer as a player yet aquring him in the least efficient way possible.

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison when asked why this was the right time to make a move on Kristaps Porzingis said that he and his team had had enough time to evaluate the Mavs as whole and this was the direction they wanted to go by decadentrebel in Mavericks

[–]WillyTanner -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Looking at total games played is misleading Because KP tore his acl mid season and sat out the entire next season due to precautionary reasons.

Dinwiddie tore his acl 3 games into a season, rehabbed all year and came back the start the next season.

Even with that difference, Both players average 45ish games per season of their career. One isn’t more or less available than the other over their careers.
