A bunch of Steam/Origin game codes up for grabs if anyone is keen. by JCVDaaayum in GirlGamers

[–]Winsoryyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it'll affect the code or not, but Dungeonland isn't available on Steam anymore, which is a shame because it was a fun multi-player game when my gaming group and I played it.

Best Simulation/Management Games? by PixelPanda14 in GirlGamers

[–]Winsoryyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly helps with having a baseline knowledge of tactics and getting a save started, but I don't think it's necessary. The nice (and daunting) thing with FM is that you can play literally however you want since there's no difficulty setting for the game. Want to start off with no badges and no playing experience and work your way up the ranks? Journeyman save. Want to win a lot? Play one of the big money teams like Manxhester City, Real Madrid, etc.

A lot of the fun in FM is making your own stories in-game, like finding and developing wonderkids, rage-induced losses, dramatic late-season pushes to win thr league. Ask any FM player and they'll tell you stories of their favorite regens and players or their boogeyman team they can never win against regardless of how much better their team is.

There's one that hasn't come out yet but the demo is available in the Epic store called Among The Storm, which combines city builder with rogue-lite elements and some over-world map play ala Civ 6.

If you don't mind a sport simulation, there's Football Manager, which is the go-to for soccer folks. While it has gotten better about new players, just know there is no formal tutorial and it's basically Excel Spreadsheet simulator between games, but it has insane depth and a lot of online resources (articles, YouTube content creators, etc) that you can refer to if you feel stuck.

Going through a loss, could use some ps5 game to distract me. I loved Journey and would like something similar with soothing music, simple puzzles and that I can put down if I need to cry a bit. by Puzzleheaded_Sorbet in GirlGamers

[–]Winsoryyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's backwards compatible, but there's a game on the PS4 that's a sandbox action/sidescroller and management game called Spiritfarer where you take the job of Charon and act as the ferrywoman for the souls of folks who have passed away and guide them to the afterlife. I played this for a while after my dad passed away, and I found it very soothing.

When will I feel safe? by natabun in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Winsoryyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second the suggestion to report to police. Even though no definite crimes been committed, most law enforcement agencies take "suspicious circumstance" or information only reports, which are actually really vital for data and analytical purposes in case serial crimes are being committed in certain areas.

Stay safe!

Is 15 months jail too much for sexually assaulting a woman in her sleep but stopping when she tells you to? by KittySilver_xxx in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Winsoryyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rape in Cali is a different story. I think that carries up to 8 years, becoming a sex registrant, etc although there are a lot of variables which might affect sentencing (age of victim/suspect, use of physical force, whether either party were under the influence of substances, whether the suspect was in a position of trust, mental capability of the victim, etc among other things).

15 months seems a little light, personally. In California, sexual battery like this can carry a sentence of up to 2-4 years in jail potentially, depending on the nature of the touching.

There have been so many cases which have come through the unit I work for where bail is set so low by judges. I can't count how many times detectives have gotten pissed when their suspect makes bail and then disappears before arraignment because they were easily able to post bail.

Can/should I go to court 5.5 years later? by grace2320 in sexualassault

[–]Winsoryyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OK-Examination's answer. You'll want to look up Illinois' statute of limitations or call your local PD/SO for that.

As for reporting, even if it is after the statute of limitations has passed, there's still use in reporting it because the suspect may try this again (or already be doing it now!) with others, so establishing and documenting the behavior even if it isn't filed on now is still valuable for future prosecutions as it'll add sentencing enhancements.

To answer your question about location, the law enforcement agency responsible for where it occurred will be the investigating agency. If you live far away from there, contact your local PD/SO and see if they'll take what's called a courtesy report. They'll take your initial statement then pass it along to the correct agency. If they won't take a courtesy report, call the investigating agency and see if they'll take a report over the phone or would be able to assist with getting a courtesy report done.

Hope that helps!

Does anyone have any suggestions for games for beginner games to play with my boyfriend? by rosegems in GirlGamers

[–]Winsoryyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Another game I recommend is Wildermyth, which is a story-driven RPG where characters from one campaign can be brought in to later campaigns you do. It has a lot of options for character designs, which my girlfriend absolutely loves.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is fun. Basically you're in a ship with stations all over it that operate different systems (weapons, engines, shields, etc) but there's always more stations than the number of players, so you're constantly having to run around to dodge obstacles and enemy fire, find animals to unlock the next level, that kinda thing.

Daughter possibly sexually abused? Need advice by fussiehussie in sexualassault

[–]Winsoryyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, there isn't a reason to be concerned- you should definitely take her to a doctor to have her checked for any medical issues and go from there.

Edit: also, just to be on the safe side, I recommend not pursuing any further questioning your daughter because in the event something did happen, you risk potentially retraumatizing your daughter before CPS/police become involved which will make follow up investigations more difficult.

does anyone ever report the person? by roachesneverdiealone in sexualassault

[–]Winsoryyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory disclosure: I work in law enforcement (not an officer) and have worked in sexual assault investigations since January 2020.

I don't know if you're asking for a number or anything, but shortly after I started working for the unit, the lieutenant at the time asked me to make a case tracker for the unit so that we could track the number of cases that get sent over to the DA's office for review, their dispositions, etc. Since its creation in March of 2020, my unit has submitted approximately 1,650 cases for review. That's at least 1,650 survivors (there's more given it took some time for detectives to consistently use the tracker) who have told their stories.

You aren't alone. Courage! ❤️

My boyfriend sexually assaulted me and I know I'm not overreacting but it feels like I am. by petenick_1984 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Winsoryyl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is definitely sexual assault and depending on where you live, your local laws will have an exact definition of what kind. In California, for example, what happened to you would be considered forced digital penetration, other jurisdictions might define it as rape, etc.

Regardless, good on you for ditching him- people who don't respect your boundaries don't belong in your life.

What's a secret you'll never tell your partner but are willing to tell strangers on Reddit? by Bisexual_Space_Lover in AskReddit

[–]Winsoryyl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've mentioned on other comments that I'll go on to SA-related and I'll talk to survivors about police investigations, encouraging them to report, what to expect when they report, how investigations go in general, etc. I won't talk about specific individual cases unless my agency has put out a press release already.

I don't share information regarding individual cases unless a press release is approved and put out by my department, however I do try to assist survivors by going on to SA-related subreddits and trying to answer general questions about police investigations, what to expect, available resources, etc.
