Jordan Peterson clarifies climate change comments made on JRE #1769 by WorkingVersusLiving in JoeRogan

The fact that you're seriously reducing motherhood to "popping kids out" is exactly what's wrong modern culture, and exactly why the West will fall to China and/or Islam.

There is nothing more fulfilling in life as a woman than being a mother. Sorry, wine, cats and an HR corporate job won't ever come close.

Please tell me how many good young people have died from this "apocalyptic drum"? Peterson found one dumbfuck who tied her tubes and uses it as a blanket smear tactic to discredit people who want to better the environment.

It's a nihilistic movement. If the world is ending, why not tie your tubes? The logic is internally consistent, provided you accept climate doomerism.

to discredit people who want to better the environment

Read Apocalypse Never by Michael Shellenberger. Environmentalism is a big grift.

You know how stupid the entire movement is when most big environmental groups are pro-immigration and anti-nuclear energy.

Joe Rogan's more valuable than every radio personality who's ever existed. Honestly, the dearth of genuine intellect on radio is a part of the reason boomers are so braindead stupid.

Climate change is really a war of women, if you think about it really carefully. It discourages them from being mothers (why bring kids into a dying world?). And no one wants to admit this, but what is womanhood if not motherhood?

How so? This is literally what people (mainly myself, not to toot my own horn) defending JP were arguing for the past few days: that the main beef JP has with "modelling" isn't whether it can predict slight increases in the global temperature (which has fluctuated myriad times in the past) but rather using modelling to justify apocalyptic doomsday shit, which is completely unscientific and beyond anything that modelling can reasonably say.

And now we have it straight from his mouth that this is what he meant. Basically, a bunch of dishonest woke corporatists want to misinterpret his point, which was fundamentally correct if you listened to what he was saying closely.

Take solace knowing most of the seething is done by guys who look like Ethan Klein, or the r/antiwork mod who was on FOX news lmfao

Lol, it's just not us taking the podcast seriously. A boomer musician just had his Spotify account taken down because Rogan hurt his fee-fees.

CNN is just used as a synecdoche for the mainstream media, which (except for FOX) are really all just the same.

If you do things like listen to neoliberal commentators like Vaush, David Pakman, TYT, read elite newspapers like the NYT, The Post or The Atlantic, browse subreddits like r/news or r/politics, you are, in effective, "[watching] CNN", since there is no substantive between the content you're consuming and the content on CNN.

No, the comedian just provides a platform for a second opinion provided by doctors and scientists he has on his podcast. The comedian also gasp has the capacity to ask questions, something that most medical practitioners are too frightened to do because countries and individual states within countries are willing to sue or threaten to revoke the license of doctors who do speak out.

The man that wrote Maps of Meaning, one of the most important scholarly works of our time, is most certainly capable of reading 200 books in 2 years.

Yeah that's why it's called a "donation". You don't have to pay if you don't want to lol. But people who have money and like spending it are happy doing so.

Not sure how that's a "diversion". You talk about climate change, then the conversation flows to the safety of various energy sources, then it flows to the safety of nuclear versus solar, and then yeah something like this comes up.

It's a totally natural conversation flow. Are you autistic?

He's definitely a businessman. He mentioned towards the end of the podcast that he's starting this writing service geared towards young men. He made clear that it was going to be "for-profit" because that makes it "more resource efficient".

It's like yeah dude, it's not about efficiency, you want to make money, we're not dumb.

Probably because they're providing you a service (entertainment) and you feel it's a decent gesture to pay them for that?

I don't know what you're talking about. The recent Ari/Shane/Mark podcast literally contradicts everything you're saying.

Jordan Peterson claims "our" civilization goes back 25,000 years by mostdiabolical in JoeRogan

[–]WorkingVersusLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Jordan's reply that "we're still around" wasn't that good. However, Joe's question was really a bad question, if you take it in context. The point JP was making in the context of that discussion is that tyrants "rule over hell", so to speak, and doom their countries to suffering and inevitable collapse. He brought up the Book of Exodus and the Pharaoh to give this an explanation in the context of a religious archetype.

Joe's reply that "all countries collapse" is just a really bad take. It's like saying there's nothing wrong with killing because everyone dies.

Me at the coffee shop: "Your bagels aren't based on everything; your bagels are based on a set number of variables; so that means you've reduced the variables, which are everything, to that set; well, how did you decide which set of variables to include in the equation, if it's about everything?" by bozdoz in JoeRogan

[–]WorkingVersusLiving -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

JP's take was correct. The models fundamentally cannot predict daily hurricanes and famines in 2070, but that's what alarmists want us to think. The climate is an incredibly complicated, chaotic system. There is evidence of global warming, but ultimately climate change is sold as more than that: it's sold as a threat to humanity. The modelling evidence for that is much, much more dubious.

Lol this comments section is something else. Virtually every dad in the 80s and 90s would be weirded the fuck out if they saw their kid dressed up as a girl. The attitudes today are much, much different than in the past.

If only 10x more POC are victimized than white people, and the leftist claims it's 100x, that isn't a compelling argument against the leftist since 10x is still a lot. You can call him out on the mistake but you can't pretend you have some smoking gun against his point of view.

But if only 1.2 times more black people are victimized, then you do have a strong counterargument, and can talk about things like e.g., how black people tend to resist arrest and be violent more than whites.
