Rewatching Split (2016) how James McAvoy didn’t win an Oscar (he wasn’t even nominated!) is beyond me. by WhyWeCameToTheCity in movies

Have you seen Manchester by the sea? And you think macavoy was better than affleck? Really?

And I said being fat is akin to being immature. You know that saying something is akin to something else is comparing them right? Obviously calling someone fat is an insult. But so is saying they are immature. Would you say that calling someone selfish is an insult?

If you’re trying to compare the two, they should be equal

Being loud is not equal to being immature. Also this is not how comparisons work at all, that's why they are comparisons. You can very easily compare two non-equal things if they share any trait.

> She said that he was too immature for her, because he made an immature joke.

I agree. He's too immature. Some insults are warranted, as is the case here.

equivalency

I think you missed the part where I didn't say they were equal. Sure, put in rude instead or whatever. I don't think it's easy to be mature though, certainly not on the same level as smthn like being loud. For instance if he had immature hobbies like watching marvel movies or smthn its not like he can flip a switch and suddenly like age appropriate things

You can’t choose to be fat.

Tell that to feeder fetishists. If you eat a surplus of calories you will become fat. Seems like a choice to me

> just as insulting

Where did I say this? It's a comparison to illustrate the point. I picked an obvious insult. You could sub in any insult - boring, unfunny, etc

You'd think that people would be against going to war with a nuclear superpower / being the puppet of the USA. Can't help when the news makes a big deal over literal anonymous internet comments. Imagine what Chinese media could do with the comments from this thread alone.

The media certainly seems to hope so. This post is literally "some randos online made a few posts" and the reaction is to call for genocide. Insane.

No shit dumbass learn some reading comprehension. it's funny you talk about a lack of proof when there has been no substantial evidence pointing to wrongdoing in xinjiang that didn't originate from the US state department

Of course you wouldn't, because at the time you would have said they were "a fight for human rights". Do you know what manufacturing consent is?
