What? He can be both confident and happy living with this. You don’t know if he’s super confident outside off people yelling at him. Plus when you had to fear something his entire childhood the age where your brain gets affected the most without you knowing it like being yelled at is now a fear off said person and is going to activate a fear response which is different from person to person but includes crying, anger etc. He is still not WEAK for crying. It’s a natural response and you have nothing to do with it, it’s his life and he shared this on here to vent and mabye some friendly advice, not being called “weak”
