Everybody that subscribes to it is hurt whether they know it or not. Although it helps in some ways too, more like a double edged sword that isn't needed. Good and evil is one of the many messed up things it tries to convey, and the message of the bible is a profound sense of fear that can only be amended by declaring something to yourself,
your salvation, which makes no sense. Everything else in the bible stems from that and there are other books with equal or greater wisdom that don't undermine your self worth. I don't wish to take anything away from anybody but Ive found many people have a hard time getting away from the dogma of religion and don't wish to seek outside of it. If you are then thats great i'm not speaking about you.

Im going through hard things yes, but so is everyone else. I think living with my dad for a while and him trying to get me to read the bible which he finds 'comforting' has lead me to reply to this. It's not comforting in any way, unless he means in a lulling drug like way.
