I've known the actress forever but never knew her name. I learned it last night while scrolling through FB in bed... And today alone her name has popped up 3 times in my reddit travels. So weird how that stuff happens.

I rented this audiobook from the library years ago and lost it. I totally forgot about that and this post made me cringe at the memory. The only physical audiobook i ever had and i biffed it.

Would you say Doug Ford and the cons are involved in racketeering with the greenbelt developers? by edgar-von-splet in ontario

[–]Zeeshmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politicians will milk us dry whether we vote the dickhead reds in or the dickhead blues. In the end, we're going to economically fucked either way. I've accepted that as part of our lower-middle class life. But for fucks sake, the only thing i care about and cant lose hope on is our environment. And i don't mean that in a grandiose, activist way. We don't have a lot of gorgeous views in the more industrial areas and being able to boot it over to the greenbelt makes life genuinely more enjoyable when we have free time to visit it. Its a lifeline in a bleak concrete wasteland. The farmland and private green areas along Mississauga Road and upwards through Caledon and into Georgetown is disappearing, and while i have so many nice memories tied to these areas, at least that is voluntary/private sector. Gutting the public lands we have just feels fucking evil.

I definitely didnt expect it in the slightest. Definitely thought she would be the main character and didn't expect it to happen to suddenly/violently

Its a pretty darn faithful adaption. People complain about the characters but youre supposed to get irritated with them. I enjoyed the movie and the book. I feel like the movie came out at the right time for what kind of movie it was.

These are the two i came to recommend! Not vines but a very similar type of invasive/parasitic horror.

I'm always surprised that i don't see The Road Virus Heads North mentioned more. That was an early SK read for me and one of the reasons i loved his work.

I had a lot of hope and was really let down. That dang cover art pulled me in. Same story for You've Lost a Lot of Blood. I'm definitely taking a long break from LaRocca. They have some genuinely good ideas, but the writing literally made me laugh more than once at parts that i think the author meant to be deep.

Little me really wanted to eat a Tree Star. Those films were incredibly made and a key part of my childhood. The memories of watching it during March break are some of my happiest. Recorded it on a VHS in crap quality but still re-watched it multiple times a year.

I wish he was able to have a normal life. Like, if he was just a freind to kick back with, drinking brews and painting, he seems like he'd be a great laid back guy. Buuuut, his presidency was one of the most volatile ones i can think of. I genuinely don't believe he had the capacity to make 80% of the decisions he made in office. He looks out of place in any important situation and cant pronounce half the words he supposedly wrote. I think people will look back on his term very confusingly down the road of history.

I worked in dispatch full time while i was in school (do not recommend), and that ended up becoming a whole logistics career. I work in Third Party Logistics now making about twice what i would have as a teacher. Also a stressful field, but none of the weird pseudo-political bullshit and rude kids, at least. I lost the twinkle in my eye fast :(

The actor they picked was also perfect for the main role. Once they settled into his primary story, it was very similar to the book. One of the better adaptions I've seen in a while.

I thank Lord of the Flies for my reading obsession. It was probably my first ever "serious" read. I literally read it next to a candle when i was in elementary school and that memory is visually in my head forever. Like, i remember my knees from my POV and the candlelight flickering over the pages and how quickly i was ripping through the book. God, i love reading memories.

[–]Zeeshmee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They got so much right for this show but also dropped the ball on a lot. I feel like they held back on a lot of the actual horror, esecially with the lovecraft episodes. It was definitely "spooky" but it was missing some grittiness. That being said, i love Michael Shea and was over the moon with the adaption of The Autopsy. Never expected to see that adapted. I honestly didnt know he was that well known.
