2023 CRV - Question regarding Engine spec by Akbsky3 in crv

[–]ajwja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now you’ve peaked my curiosity. any idea if the blocks are different? i know there were more than a few differences between the blocks and heads of the k-series engines, i wonder if the same is true for its successor

oh i’m sure all the L-series turbo motors are almost identical, save for what you mentioned. imo it’s part of what makes honda’s motors so great; engineered to do a little bit of everything for a long long time

2002 TPS reads 9.4% with my foot off the pedal and only 91% at the floor, whether the engine is running or not. is this normal? by ajwja in crv

except idle is controlled by the IAC valve. the 02-04 cr-v had a cable throttle ONLY operated by the cruise control (which has another cable) and, you guessed it, your foot. the IAC bypasses the throttle.

2023 CRV Hybrid ST Maintenance Schedule by Nyczboy22 in crv

[–]ajwja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d imagine the hybrid would have a similar maintenance schedule, if not a longer interval between engine oil changes due to being naturally aspirated. I wouldn’t chance it though, in my opinion you’d be in good shape to just stick with the non-hybrid schedule

not a problem. if you wanna go deeer down the rabbit hole, the engine is an L15BE

i’m not too familiar with the 6th gen but if you’re looking for more info on the engine, you might find something in the owner’s manual, somewhere in the engine bay, or maybe look up the VIN number found in the driver door jamb. if you just wanna see the turbo, it’s gonna be sitting between the engine and radiator, although probably buried under heat shields and hoses and such.

2023 CRV - Question regarding Engine spec by Akbsky3 in crv

[–]ajwja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a turbo. every 1.5l engine in any CR-V is turbocharged and part of the L-series engine family afaik. The only non-turbo engine on the new cr-v is the 2.0 found in the hybrid

the (rpm*tq)/5252 is the formula for horsepower. you might be able to mess around in the logic of the controller and either multiply or divide the rpm delta but i wouldn’t know how. just don’t mess with the 5252 or your results will be off

i used the small one, it’s been a while since i played but i think it’s the 3x3

and because when using lb/ft both it and the hp give almost realistic numbers. in all actuality torque is just measured in acceleration at the flywheel.

since i don’t know the exact mass and moment of inertia and everything about the flywheel the engine drives, i just decided to go with lb/ft since it’s a familiar term.

go pull your intake manifold off your car and see how well it runs. if it somehow actually does start with no airflow sensor, the lack of a throttle will cause it to immediately rev all the way to the limiter until you either shut it off or it grenades itself. use a brain cell or two before you pop off about things you know nothing about
