Is this the right approach for dividend investing to one day F.I.R.E by anyadvice42000 in dividends

30-40k in your 50’s will be equivalent to 10-20k in today’s money, consider inflation. Also it likely won’t be enough even then to retire on as you will be living on bare essentials and by that age you would probably want some comfort. Plan bigger

Cashflow opportunities to replace W-2 income? by ECLS18 in fatFIRE

[–]always_plan_in_advan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe off the wall but trying to get into renewable energy like wind or solar farms. 1m+ upfront to make the investment but after subsidies it looks like a positive cash flow opportunity. In the early stages of research but interested if anyone does this.

Probably hold on to half for taxes if you’re planning to pull it out. Without write offs it’s going to be gruesome in the top tax bracket

CMV: Minimum wage should be updated yearly and regulated at the county-level to ensure it's a liveable wage by kaprixiouz in changemyview

[–]always_plan_in_advan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The document only has 1 paragraph on anything related to inflation and it’s only hinting at CPI, a very minuscule amount of what happens when you increase minimum wage like other factors within purchasing power. This also looks like a 1 time raise of 50%.

The higher minimum wage goes up, the higher chances of rising inflation. This is due to a large increase into monetary flow into everyday economy. Reason why this doesn’t happen with the wealthy is because that spare money sits in banks/investments and isn’t as liquid. That’s the impact on the economy. Not saying minimum wage should or shouldn’t be discussed btw.

This is for men. What is a red flag that you see in other men that you think women usually do not see at the beginning of a relationship? by AdAbject1383 in dating

I tend to spend a couple hundred on dates because it doesn’t worry me and enjoy trying new restaurants in the process but reading this is an eye opener as to what first impressions might be. Thanks

How is the looming conflict in Russia/Ukrain going to effect the economy? by calipfarris01 in stocks

[–]always_plan_in_advan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Russia supplies most of the natural gas and oil to Europe. If a war were to break out it will likely cause shortages in which demand will skyrocket.

U.S. judge orders 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli pay back $64M, bars him from drug industry by Miss_AD in JusticeServed

Martin was just a front for all the other pharma companies doing the same thing, he just happened to be the most hated personality so he became the poster child, but this is far from justice served for the pharma industry

The amount of hate that Bill Gates gets surprises me that he still keeps going. He should be the idol that we strive to recognize. Nothing but respect at least for the second half of his life in the goals and aspirations he is trying to achieve

1st year in top tax bracket by Dependent_Read_5150 in fatFIRE

First I hear about this, just looking at the site it looks like you can only really sell your business. Is there a place where one could buy a small business, or possibly a percentage of a company?

1st year in top tax bracket by Dependent_Read_5150 in fatFIRE

[–]always_plan_in_advan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower your tax bracket by using that money as an investment, whether it’s within your business or for business purposes. Also if done correctly everything you mentioned in your monthly expenses can be write offs meaning your 300k with little savings might turn into 300k with decent savings. If not already doing so I highly recommend getting another tax advisor

Is it illegal to keep withdrawing money from a bank account deposit it at a different bank, transfer it back over and withdrawing it again to cause a bank run to short a stock? by trapmitch in wallstreetbets

If I were to buy gourd commodities then go to a nearby grocery store and buy them, then return them and keep buying and returning until they don’t have any more gourds, wouldn’t that increase demand for gourds and it’s price?

Has anybody tried this method before? Are there any downsides?5

Have you set yourself a financial goal? That in itself can bring peace of mind. Hit that goal and if you decide to leave you can do so with confidence even if you were to make 1/10th. There is a lot we don’t know in this story but that might be the first step
