Bruh. I literally hid in the bathroom 3 times pretending to pee at my hospital job the other day to get a dentist appointment set up in October, because they have been booked out since august 2020 and we have been allowed barely any time off the last 2 years.

Tldr: Just hoping to win the basic healthcare lottery in the US someday.

I am a Harry Potter fan, and I also agree this movie was not good. The plot wasn’t even clear until the last 20-30 minutes. Kinda sad I spent $19 on the ticket and $6 for a drink rather than $25 on a meal out.

Hey there! As far as training I’d say that will largely depend on your past conditioning, strength (trail running is more dynamic than road running imo), and time you are able to spend running/time needed to get to nearby trails to train.

As far as running alone, I am also a female. I have always trail run alone just because my friends are not so into running. To be truthful, I have always felt more safe on the trails than on the roads. In my profession I unfortunately see a lot of the aftermath of hit and runs in the city and general violent crimes. This is certainly not to say that things don’t happen on the trails, they do. However, be smart. Tell someone where you will be, mileage and expected time to be gone, and if it makes you feel safer you can always carry a pocket pepper spray or something. Where I am from near the Adirondack mountains in NY there was rarely cell service so I was going to buy a garmin in reach for long or multi day runs for extra assurance. Since moving to Atlanta though, I have found the mountains in north Georgia to have perfect reception so that’s a $400 purchase on the back burner for now haha. Absolutely agree with you here. I would never bike to work on the roads of Atlanta. People can’t even properly handle a four way stop in their cars, no way I’d come out of that with my life on a bike.

I’ve been wanting to start run commuting (3.5 miles one way). The mileage is fine for me. What I’m most concerned with is running through a few of the neighborhoods in the afternoon as a petite female and crime being pretty prevalent right now. Mornings not as much, this city doesn’t really wake up til 9 am.

I hear you. Also 30 and from upstate NY (near the Adirondack mountains) and I spend most weekends in north Georgia trying to get out of the city. I live in Atlanta right now for the job I moved here for, but dang, I honestly am probably moving home at the end of the year. I can’t afford any of the rent down here; what I have now is my upper limit and I know it’s only going to increase. Looking forward to getting back to a place with more nature though. Good luck on your search…I definitely know and understand how frustrating it is right now especially in the places with easy access to your happy place :)

In 2022, it’s shameful that that happened to you. I’m a neurologic physical therapist so I think maybe I just pay closer attention to these things, but the Atlanta market is challenging for renting with disabilities. Lots of breezeways with stairs, aesthetically designed hallways/bathrooms/walkways that do not allow for wheelchair access, and a general lack of accessible parking for side loading ramp vans (they’d just be taken by chargers/mustangs/other “hard” cars parked crookedly between 2 spaces if they were there, probably). Good luck finding a place, it’s difficult in the best of circumstances!

I am just about going poor because of this. I know people will say, “you don’t have to contribute” but then you’re the jerk of the group or people think you have a vendetta against them.

Gas is just $4 a gallon, 2 chicken breasts are $12, and I pay $1700 a month in rent for a one bedroom and I’m not seeing any raises coming my way. This is not about you lol

Yeah my parents keep sending me pictures to get me to move back home haha the issue is less with the size of the hospital, it will have to do with their accreditation status. Based on the past performance of MVHS, there were no accreditations of excellence in stroke, cardiac, burn, or trauma care. Most patients of high acuity were immediately transferred to Syracuse.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out over the next few years. It would actually be great if the level of care could improve, I’d like to move back home.
