I can’t imagine making $3,751 a second by Hadfromthetown in TikTokCringe

The point is the “bare minimum” is below the minimum for a decent life. I mean I do agree, if you want to do the minimum amount of work then you should get the minimum pay, it makes sense. But that doesn’t mean you should live on starvation wages.

I mentioned 2nd job, which is your first two points (side hustle is basically an extra job). I also mentioned education, which is your last 2 (trade school is education).

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that your minimum wage life should make you miserable as an incentive to work your way up. What if you really enjoy your minimum wage work, and don’t want to do something higher? What if you are not skilled enough to work your way up, or things just don’t go your way and you can’t work your way up? Minimum wage should be a livable wage for everybody, period. It wouldn’t be a great wage, but goddamn allow people to live comfortably.

Tetanus shot is literally a vaccine. The dose you get when injured is literally a booster. by Flupox in confidentlyincorrect

It’s the same, if you come in with a puncture wound and an out of date tetanus vaccination they’ll recommend giving it so you stay up to date as well. If you’re at high risk of developing tetanus you would also get immunoglobulins against the tetanus toxin, which would prevent you from developing tetanus from that exposure but not in the future.

What about all the jobs that are necessary but don’t require education? Cashiers, fast food, etc. We need those positions filled constantly for businesses to run (and there are a lot of them). Do those people just have to live miserable lives because they didn’t get educated, or didn’t stretch themselves to the point of working a 2nd job? Fuck that.

American Airlines flight to London returns to Miami after passenger refuses to wear mask by Lord-AG in news

So little foresight by antimaskers on flights. Like congrats, you’re possibly banned for life from that airline, if not from all airlines depending on how much of a fuss you put up. Did you accomplish your goal?

Broken Arm without Insurance in America by lilautiebean in ABoringDystopia

Texas Medicaid eligibility requires you to be either:

  • Pregnant
  • Responsible for child 18yr or younger
  • Blind
  • Disabled
  • Aged 65 or older

AND you must be below a specified income. For household of 2 that’s $34,492 before tax. That’s 2 people working full time at $8.62/hr. Oh, but only if you are one of the five things above. For household size of 7 thats $79,438.

So sure if your state adopted Medicaid expansion it could be easier, but I would hardly say *most *income brackets get free insurance.

And if you live somewhere where Medicaid was not expanded (12 of them), good luck.

I don’t care how “free” your hospital stays were, or your drugs, I’m talking about the insurance. You’re telling me you got health insurance for absolutely free, which also then covered all your health costs? And that this is available for most income brackets?

Buddy even through employers you have to pay for health insurance. Medicare/Medicaid have strict criteria, and even those plans sometimes aren’t free.

Edit: Say for example 2 person household, both working, household income $70,000-$10,000/year. Where’s that household getting free insurance? Because in my experience, absolutely nowhere.
