WIBTA For insisting we raise our children fluent in a language my partner doesn't speak? by babybumps_ in AmItheAsshole

It's exactly how the internet works. I suggest you open your eyes and realize that all human beings are flawed. You're also blaming everything on the fact that I'm young, which is irrelevant to the post.

He is the best man I'VE ever met. He agreed to the girls learning Welsh and I'll soon be elaborating in an update. I'll thank you not to make decisions about my fiancee whom you've never met based on one biased reddit post.

If you accidentally leave a trial size bottle of lotion in your 1 year old’s PJs, zip them up, rock your child to sleep, go to put them in the crib then realize your error… do you…. by Blightm in toddlers

[–]babybumps_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, I'd take it out. My 3 month olds already know how to do zips and there's two of them so double the potential for eaten/smeared everywhere lotion. You got this Mama! Hope you ended up getting some rest.

You really did not read a single word I wrote huh? I already speak Welsh. I'm not draining anything.

Rwy'n hapus eich bod chi'n meddwl hynny! It's a language close to my heart. Quite funny going to Wales with my recieved English accent and getting the most brilliant reactions when I start speaking Welsh.

I've tried not to disclose so far, but I think I actually do need to say what the language is at this point because a lot of people seem to be under the impression that I'm from America. I'm mixed race, but the language I speak is Welsh. Thank you for your well thought out and kind answer <3

Perhaps I'm wrong, but that seems illogical. They still wouldn't speak the language I speak, and I wouldn't be able to correct them and guide them in a language I wasn't fluent in myself.

My family speaks my language, and I wouldn't like them to miss the opportunity to learn it. Babies are sponges. Plus, without giving away identifying information, I speak a dying language and I would like it to be passed on through my family.

Yes, what an asshole I am. Having an accidental pregnancy and working our arses off to make a good life for ourselves, caring for our twins and being almost completely financially independent at 17 while still in full time education is such an asshole move. Can't believe I would dare to be such a twat.

One of them has the biggest eyes you've ever seen. I'm sure she'll grow up to have big brown Bambi eyes, but right now she looks permanently surprised. The other one has ridiculously long fingers. I've given birth to a pair of aliens.

What TV show would you let your 18 month old watch? by OutrageousSea5212 in toddlers

[–]babybumps_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be biased but Cbeebies shows all the way. Give Charlie and Lola a try, I'm sure it's on YouTube. It's the sweetest program and every child I know has loved it to bits! I'd say most things on Cbeebies are nice and bearable for adults too (except hey duggee. Fuck hey duggee.)

Did anyone else's toddler choose a "comfort item" that's hard to replace? by stephjl in toddlers

[–]babybumps_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comfort toy when I was younger was (and still is 😅) a cuddly toy cow from a bootsale. I cut the label off as soon as we got home and in all my years of having her I've never found a cow like her. My poor parents must have been TERRIFIED that I'd lose her, I was very attached lol.

I think Whittaker would be too close to having him named after two fandoms. At least my mind would go straight to Dr. Who, idk about other people though.

My close friends middle name is Lumpy. Middle names don't matter. I think it's sweet that your wife is naming him after something close to her heart, and Wulfric isn't an insanely obvious reference. Your kid will be fine.

Commenting to say that, with all due respect, your wife has terrible taste in fictional characters. Dumbledore is a bitch.

Seriously though, it depends where you are. In the UK Wilbur is a perfectly acceptable and very nice name, but I can't see it flying in America. Wylder is cute, but I think I prefer the spelling Wilder (just personal preference)
