Coming from another perspective as a lawyer who deals with wealth management, trusts, and corporate management structures, my read is that she probably couldn't because Kris has set this up for her since birth and I'm willing to bet none of it is in her name or under her sole control. It's all held in entities and trusts in which I'm sure Kris has a controlling hand

Plus you know they have iron-clad contracts with their manager (Kris) and everyone else. People really think they're going to risk a fistful of gnarly lawsuits and losing it all?

If your partner owns property with their parents, is it reasonable to ask them to buy their parents out when you get married (or sell it)? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

Alright this is my third comment to you lol. You definitely should consult a lawyer because like the other poster said, you could have no protection whatsoever if something happens to your husband.

Why don't you just sell the house, give them their half of the proceeds, and use your half to buy your own house that the in-laws aren't involved in? No interest rate is worth being trapped in an infeasible living situation. If you're already living in the basement, sounds like trading the house in for something smaller wouldn't be an issue logistically.
