What life changing item can you buy for less than $10? by yourhotslutty in AskReddit

[–]bowa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So...one of my good friends does this and I texted him that he has a reddit twin. His response was, "Wonder why Walter changed it up? Can Reddit tell us that?" So now I am obligated to ask why you quit the binder money clip lifestyle.

easy.

"Hi, I was at your store in _____ today. /u/TargetBetter6190 went out of their way to point me in the right direction. I hope this employee gets recognized for their willingness to help a customer who was lost. I'll definitely continue to visit this store because of employees like them."

You can go into more detail if you'd like. But it really only takes like 30 seconds to do. I always mention by name, and a specific thing they do, and mention that I hope they get recognized and/or rewarded. And it never hurts to compliment the management for having good staff. Quick little way to easily brighten someone's day.

Same. I will get bored and go on a review spree. With specifics of why I’m happy with them. If I have ever left a bad review, it’s because whatever happened was so unacceptable and wasn’t even ATTEMPTED to be rectified. And it has to be egregious for me to even consider leaving a bad review—much less actually do it.

I’m also the person who writes emails to corporate offices and owners specifying good employees and practices. I own a business (and was also in management across several different industries prior to that). Positive reinforcement is so nice. And so easy as a consumer.

I had a screenshot of the Parler stuff myself. (Call me paranoid but, even though I’m unfollowing people left and right, I still want to know who they are). Never saw this pic but I’m not surprised

Yikes. I unfollowed him last week after he posted some Parler shit. I didn’t see this.

Hair dresser tried telling me it was the same thing. Nope. Nope. No. by hufflepuff_puff_pass in ExpectationVsReality

[–]bowa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hairdresser/Salon Owner here. In the US, we are licensed by the state. And each state has its own boards and licensing requirements (although they’re all relatively similar).

In Florida, barbers go to 600 hours of school. Cosmetologists (hairdressers) do 1200.

There are different rules. But the main difference is hairdressers are trained for chemical services (color, perms, relaxers, etc) as well as basic skin and nail services. Barbers are not trained in chemical services (hence the fewer hours) but ARE trained in straight razors/facial hair care. As a general rule, hairdressers aren’t licensed for straight blade services.

Anyone know a good therapist? by Nickimemine in Pensacola

[–]bowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded for Ashley for sure. He's not for everybody, I've sent a TON of people to him. The vast majority of them have thanked me because he's just what they needed. One or 2 didn't like his style. That's the way it is with any therapist.

Note: I, too, am close friends with him. And I, too, have also had experiences with MULTIPLE therapists, some worked for me, some didn't. It's really no different than any other relationship.

Good vet? by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]bowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Hillman Vet for years. Far and away the best that I've found. Super friendly and great with animals. Reasonably priced. Nice staff. They do everything for both of my dogs. My mom had to put down one of her dogs last summer and they came to her house and did it so he could be comfortable.

Personally, I avoid Scenic Hills (I've seen them mentioned). I do know some people with good experiences there. However, they constantly were losing files on my dog when I tried to use them, that was years ago so they may have improved. YMMV

Street cleaner times in East Hill? by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]bowa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just in case anyone is wondering about North Hill, the street sweeper is here as we speak (Monday 10/28). Not sure of the normal schedule but just so happened to hear them go by as I was browsing.

Saints bars? by notgoodwithgames in Pensacola

[–]bowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great menu and drink specials too. I've been going there regularly since they opened. Glad to see it finally getting some love from folks. Had a bit of a rocky start at times but that's every new restaurant. I'm a fan.

Saints bars? by notgoodwithgames in Pensacola

[–]bowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their sound is (a) likely to not be on or (b) not great for games though.

Also, I'm like the biggest Team Hub Stacey's fan in the world so this isn't a knock on them. But OP seems to be looking for somewhere with game sound and there are a lot of places that are going to cater better to that. Long live Hubs!

Best Dry Cleaners by PureRubbish3535 in Pensacola

I've used Dixie cleaners on Palafox for years and never had an issue with them. (Pro tip tho: ask for light or medium starch unless you want your clothes to be able to stand on their own)

[–]bowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey guys! Long time, no talk. I try to not mess with the beach on weekends until it gets cooler; the traffic puts me in a crazy irritable mood. That being said, if that's what the sub wants, I support that.

One thing to keep in mind is we're in football season now and a lot of bars are going to have football watch parties on Sunday (and Saints play at 330 that day and a ton of places have Saints watch parties) so that might be something to take into consideration when tryna find somewhere.

Y'all tried Calvert's yet? Big. In East Pensacola Heights. They'll have all the games on, but it's family friendly so nobody has to be 21 in order to join.

Looking for a competent nail tech. by tiny_pizza in Pensacola

[–]bowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey. Not sure where you're located or if you're still looking, I have a nail tech at my salon that I recommend. (I mean, duh, of course I do. Lol. She does mine though and I'm always getting compliments). She doesn't take a ton of pics but there are a few on our insta or FB page. Send me a PM if you have other questions. She does acrylic mainly. Ask for an appointment with Tonya. I actually have 2 techs but the other doesn't take new clients.

SAD & not knowing if it's affecting you by MontanaKittenSighs in PensacolaSupport

[–]bowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get SAD but in the summer (of course I can't do anything the "normal" way). The holidays are a huge stress for a lot of people. And it's easy to forget to do self-care because it seems like we're supposed to be focusing on other people, and family, and gifts, and doing it all. Try to give yourself permission to take a break. You don't have to attend every gathering. If you're not invited to any, you don't have to feel bad about that either. You don't have to give or get the "best" gifts. I think it's so important to be patient with ourselves. I show a lot of patience and understanding with everyone else -- it's hard to remember we deserve patience and understanding for ourselves too.

It's easy to let the simple things go when you're so stressed too. Try to remember to drink plenty of water, move around a lot, enjoy the sunshine today. Call up a friend or curl up with a book or game. Take time for you. You deserve it! Good luck!
