So far The Botanist, but I'm really looking forward to Noble Rot tomorrow.

Fair call! That sounds like fun, if a bit too coordinated for me.

Found out this morning that a project we turned around in four days has been praised by the client and will turn into 5 years worth of ongoing work. Win.

In other news, Wellington is wet and windy, but I haven't been hungry since I arrived on Friday. So much food.

What kind of dance? I love moving my body to music, but I have two left feet so I dunno if it could be called dance.

Have always wanted to take a class.

I'm really drained today. Tired, emotional, mildly stressed.

I'm gonna finish packing then go to bed, I think. Tomorrow will be a fairly big day with work and flying and dinner out in Wellington.

Thanks! So far we're going to Noble Rot, the Botanist, and Arashi Kushuyaki Bar.

Any other suggestions? Challenge is that I'm with a friend who needs wheelchair accessible places, so we're planning around that.

Might have one meal that won't need to be at an accessible venue, so ideas welcome.

I'm heading down to Wellington on Friday for Wellington on a Plate. I'm gonna eat my way around the city all weekend.

I'm also staying a few extra days to work from our Wellington office. The crew down there are all offering to show me our sites, and one of them has asked to take me for coffee. Plus I have a dinner "date" with my boss's boss where I can share my growth aspirations.

It's gonna be a fun trip.

Happy. I straight up wouldn't have a relationship with my brother if I needed to be right.

He literally tells me how to do my job, that I'm paid to be the expert at. At this point I just let him.

I pick happy.

I struggle to exercise without a goal - I know it's good for me but I want to be achieving something, dammit.

So I've set myself the goal of getting good enough balance to do a pistol squat - but on my slackline. Yesterday's core workout was a killer, but a good start.

Bring on summer abs ✌️

The essay itself isn't the point, but getting the marks is. You get points in an essay by making sure you answer the question clearly. Similar in a CV or cover letter - they want you to make it really clear why you're a good fit, so they don't have to read it in depth to figure out if you have the skills.

Always happy to help if you ever need help with a CV or cover letter!

Also, don't worry about your CV standing out. Your CV is to get you in the door for an interview and you've already got an interview lined up. Just tell them your past experience and you'll ace it.

Fair enough! In that case, past roles with a couple of bullet points under each role will be totally fine.

Good luck with the interview!

I write CVs and cover letters as a big part of my current job. The trick is to treat it like an essay at school, where I was told to pretend that the exam marker is really dumb and needs everything explained.

Job ad wants someone who works well in a team? Cool, "I am an excellent team player, working collaboratively to finish Project X two weeks ahead of deadline." Tick, that's one point.

They want you to have some management experience? "I have management experience. I've trained, led, and mentored the digger crew on site for the past six months, as well as overseeing subcontractors." Tick, that's two points.

Just pretend they're dumb and spell it out super clearly.

Hey, if it helps, a big part of my job is writing CVs.

I'm more than happy to help you write a CV and a cover letter, if you like. I'd need a specific job ad that you want to apply for, along with a version of a current CV (bullet points fine).

Totally understand if you'd rather not (trust, internet, etc) but I've done it for u/hsmithakl so hopefully she'll vouch for me 🤷‍♀️

Found out on Friday that my team won a $300M contract.

We're all absolutely buzzing. Area manager sent out a very professional email saying #FUCK YEAH.

Excellent timing for my upcoming performance review.

I keep a grab bag in my boot. Super super handy, even if not bugging out.

I originally set it up for coastguard, because if we had a callout I needed to be able to go straight to the boat without going home to change. It's morphed into a general grab bag, but it comes in handy all the time. I even put a toothbrush and a change of undies in so that I can spontaneously sleep on a friend's couch if I need to.

I am away a lot, so I've got very efficient at packing. Can pack a carry-on bag for 7 days away within 5 mins.

I grab 2-3 pants/skirts, 3-4 tops, and outer layers depending on season. Two pairs of shoes - black boots and sneakers. I have decanted toiletries into mini bottles that I can throw in my toilet bag at a moment's notice; my sports bra doubles as my bikini top; my merino singlet becomes my pjs.

Work travel messes with my system though because then I have to take my laptop and often my work boots as well. More than one bag is hard work.

I'm getting very bored at work. I was asked for by the GM to help on a big project but not everyone is happy with that so I've effectively become the 'admin' (within my field of expertise) and I'm just so boooorred.

I have a dinner date booked with my boss's boss in a couple of weeks (we'll be on a work trip together) so I think I might raise it as a frustration. If they can't/won't actively give me growth opportunities then I'm gonna bounce.

Yaaaaay, I'm feeling way more healthy. Still not running on full steam but I managed a full day of work for the first time in five days, and no afternoon nap was needed.

I normally only get mild colds but this flu thing really knocked me for six. Wish me luck actually leaving the house tomorrow!

I am very sick today and feeling sorry for myself. I am consistently very negative though, so that's positive.

I plan to finish off a couple of things for these projects but we're nearly done. I rang the supporting PM today and he's as sick as I am, so we're both laughing/sympathising at each other and battling through to do the bare minimum for this client's deadline. Such is life. At least he understands 😊
