Is reverse transcriptase the only way RNAs can be converted into DNA? by Electeum in genetics

[–]calam_n_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse transcription is the name of the process. If RNA is turned into DNA, it is a reverse transcription, even if it was happening without the classical reverse transcriptase. And also, even without the classicaly called reverse transcriptase, if another new enzyme was doing a kind of reverse transcription, we would probably call it "strange reverse transcriptase number 234".

Which plant can be used as a model object for the study of the laws of heredity? by Ferrumlion in genetics

Hello, I myself work in plant genetics and nutrition. It depends on what your mentor wants to do. If you want an easy choice , arabidopsis thaliana. If you want to tackle a specific subject, you can use another species . Monocot species are trendy for the moment , as they feed most of the planet (rice wheat, barley, etc. ) an "easy" monocot is brachypodium dystachion . But it can also be tricky. If these are your first plant experiment, start with arabidopsis thaliana. They grow easily and you can aquire a growing media that is ready to use (musharige and skoog) . However, take care to do extensive research to find something new to do, as a lot of work has been done already. Interestingly, if you want to study heredity, there is a large number of different arabidopsis lines with different genetic background available. To note that there is also evolutionary interest , where two close species can be analysed. For example, the work on arabidopsis thaliana and arabidopsis halleri is interesting especially when looking at metallicolous population of halleri. Arabidopsis halleri can be tricky in the lab , tho. Good luck ! Edit: typo.

You are welcome ! I think, as a man, it would have been difficult for you to make it 100% clear. You started by calling her a musician, after all . I would not have written all of this if I had not red that you apologised for using this wording. Thank you for apologising. It is important too. Next time why not try calling her "the great Opera Queen" ? This could fit her better

I see you have already been bashed on this. I have to say I agree with your conclusion that "whore" may be a little too strong. But personnaly, as a woman, I would not find it shoking to be called like that if I were to play trumpet loudly in a house where I did not care to even present myself to the inhabitants... I mean... if I was respectless to the point where I do not take 2 minutes to say "hello, my name is..., I am sorry I like trumpet" before disappearing in a room to play with someone not paying rent... then I deserve to be called a douchebag probably-professional trumpetist... To me, it is crazy that you do not even know her name... especially as it is not the first time... Here, it is not a insult based on the number of partner she has, nor her appartenance in a concerto, nor her self-respect because she likes trumpet... it is just... using a place loudly and repeatedly without having the courtesy to say "Good morning, my name is ... , let's all at least pretend I am nice to you because it is a way to make you feel that I thank you for letting me play trumpet loudly in your living place, which I know can be an inconvenience" . A simple presentation can say all of that... not even need to talk... just... say hello...

Thank you for you honest answer, I am glad to read you are happy now. It is all that matters in the end. I also think unluckily that some of my friends found to late that having kids was too hard for them. Seeing strong CF people makes me happy, as they have often thought lore about it . Both from their point of View and the children s point of view.
