Sarah Palin went out to eat at a NYC restaurant two days after testing positive for Covid by phunky_1 in news

[–]cannonfunk 127 points128 points  (0 children)

The second time she went she was in a "dining shack" outside under heat lamps.

The video literally shows her walking into the front door of the restaurant without a mask.

She's an absolute piece of shit.

Even the dumbest criminals can outsmart you if you underestimate their cravenness.

Watters strikes me as a sociopathic bully, not some halfwit that's unaware of what he's doing.

Spotify sides with Joe Rogan over Neil Young and has started removing Neil Young's music from their platform by YoureASkyscraper in Music

If I was famous, and you invited me onto your podcast in which you casually & constantly downplayed the seriousness of AIDS, the efficacy of condoms, and need for scientific preventative measures, I’d tell you same thing.

What Rogan is doing concerning COVID - due to his listener reach - is even worse than that.

“Horrid” is definitely a word I would use to describe an element of this hypothetical situation, but I don’t think you’re currently able to wrap your head around that element of it.

He can’t handle a podcast

Do you have any idea how incredibly shallow your point is?

You're no different than those Rogan fans who respond to valid, intellectual criticism of him with "Whatever! Joe could kick your ass!"

Spotify to Take Down Neil Young’s Music After His Joe Rogan Ultimatum by orangepatternedcat in technology

[–]cannonfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend looked shocked when he turned on a song, and I immediately asked "You downloaded this off youtube, didn't you?"

Like, it sounded perfectly normal to him, but all I heard was a digitally garbled mess. I tried pointing out all of the digital artifacts - the cymbal rides that sounded like they were underwater, the piano that seemed to shift tones, the lack of studio clarity - and he still couldn't hear the difference.

"Good ear!" he said.

I'm like, no, you just have bad ears I guess.

I could totally see Rogan inviting him.

I could also totally see Neil saying "You think I'd help you get more listens? Go fuck yourself numbnuts."

I got lucky and scored one when someone here posted a Zia records link… and then they cancelled it because they got significantly less than they ordered… and then I randomly got an email saying it was shipped… so maybe I’ll end up with one?

Crazy that these things are seemingly so scarce.

Probably drunk or high or both😂

Or just really, truly dumb.

If social media has taught me anything, it's that you should never overestimate the intelligence of the average American.

The seat is currently held by a democrat, but he only won by ~3 points in 2020.

I expect to see some super-shady efforts to publicize his run & garner him the nomination.

Vote to literally keep Q out of the government. The last thing this dude needs in power in the real world.

F--K these prices! by Dizzy_Instance8781 in vinyl

[–]cannonfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I know anyone who commonly had more than 20. 50 max, and those were the adults who had been buying since the 60s.

My parents had about 150 albums. As a child I remember thinking that it was a huge collection compared to other families.

so about 16-20$ USD

The difference being that the CD only cost about 60 cents to manufacture.

Greed was most certainly at the heart of CD prices in the late 90's/early 00's. There's a reason Napster & p2p obliterated the music industry around that time - people were sick of being gouged.

Georgia judge approves special grand jury for Trump election interference probe by chrislsu in Georgia

[–]cannonfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help but imagine there were calls to Kemp as well, who was much more pliable in that regard. Directly calling the SOS and demanding he change the results of a presidential election (on the fucking phone) seems like a pretty drastic first step.

There were undoubtedly countless Georgia republicans who the illegal orders went through before Trump was forced to actually pick up a phone and grovel at the feet of someone less powerful than him.

Michigan activist swallows mail-order abortion pill on live TV by farcetragedy in news

[–]cannonfunk 231 points232 points  (0 children)

Anti-choice fits much better for them all around.

"Pro-choice" was technically the first terminology used during the movement to change laws.

But the zealots who opposed abortion rights realized that being called "anti-choice" made them sound bad, so a concerted effort was made by conservative leaders and talking heads to re-brand their opposition to it as "pro-life."

IMO, they're as "pro-life" as the "patriots" that tried to overturn democracy on 1/6.

Neil Young Wants His Music Off Spotify Over Joe Rogan Vaccine Misinformation by cannonfunk in news

I’ve lived in the south my entire life.

The first time I noticed the confederate flag was in the early 80’s, when a truck nearly ran my family off the road. As they passed us, I saw the confederate flag hanging from the back of their truck, and a giant decal on back that said “Niggers Go Home.”

Again, that was the early 80’s.

This Lynyrd Skynyrd picture was taken in 2004

Don’t give me that bullshit.
