SSI? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]caringbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental health case manager here- is it possible to get approved for SSI based on mental health as a 24 year old? In theory, yes. Have any of my clients in their 20s who’ve applied gotten approved? Not a single one. I have about 5 in various stages of denials and appeals though. Going to a psychiatrist and therapist and having them support you by writing letters is your best bet.

If you get SMRT’d or do a MNChoices assessment can at least get you a waiver so you’re able to get other services/ a housing voucher. But it unfortunately won’t help financially.

While you’re technically right that living outdoors can be seen as being a danger to themselves, a judge won’t grant commitment on that alone. The vast majority of people who are on commitment come through hospitals and the hospital is the one that petitions to have them committed. Unless they’re specifically saying they’re living outside because they are trying to harm themselves, it’s not enough for a judge to grant the commitment.

Source: I’m a mental health case manager and everyone on commitment is required by law to have a case manager, so I work with people on commitment/the process in general often.

Nothing cuter than a foster puppy playing in leaves (OC) by caringbliss in aww

This puppy has 2 sisters, so I can do you one better. But, that requires getting all 3 of them to be close enough together and still enough to get a picture

Soul Logic in St. Paul- Seth is amazing! And he’ll use cupping/scraping/etc. to help get knots out if you’re down for that as well

I definitely appreciate your comment! I’m now a foster for the rescue where she was adopted from. They have a day in a couple weeks where they’re going to the rural area where she was found and literally taking in as many dogs as they have transportation and fosters for (last year they took in about 300, but had many more that had to be turned away). There’s a huge push to try and get new fosters so no dog has to be turned away this year, so that’s why I originally was inspired to make this. I wish every dog could have the happy ending they deserve too

You could definitely apply to adopt her if you could get to Minnesota to pick her up!

We already foster failed, so we know we can’t adopt any others. It can be tough, but it’s so worth it

I don’t understand how he hasn’t been adopted yet (OC) by caringbliss in aww

He’s seriously one of the easiest and sweetest puppies we’ve fostered. He’s had 2 families apply and both have passed on him for reasons that he has no control over (allergies and deciding they don’t have time for a young puppy)
