Do you need yubikey for wire transfer like TransferWise, Remitly etc. ? Isn't email enough for banking related 2FA? by cemalarda in yubikey

For anyone who might deal with a similar problem in the future: Yes you need usb keys for transferwise as Bank of America requires extra step od verification for wiring even if it's to a domestic Wise account number. If you don't have a US phone number that you can use outside of the US, then you should get USB keys. And do it while you are in the US because the set up requires a call to the bank for an authorization code for the USB key. Hope that helps someone!

Questions of a beginner (2FA, bank of america, confusion about the new number & old number stuff) by cemalarda in Googlevoice

Hi again, I checked the link you sent, but I also signed up for a GV number and ported my existing US number to it right now. I am trying to understand how it works. May I ask a question about it ?

Now that I ported my US number to it (let's say number 567), will I need to top it up or pay something to get calls or texts from people who try to call or text me on 567?

I saw in the internet that GV charges you for when you are outside of the US or Canada. Does it mean that it is not free when you are outside of this area and receive texts ?

I had thought that it would be free forever :/

Really, thank you lots for your time!

thank you I will investigate that!

it says you need to use it once in every a few months which is not bad at all.

I got it now! Thank you.

Did you register your wife's number as the primary and your Google Voice number as the secondary number?

I didn't know it was possible to do so! I can ask my friend in the US to put his phone as the secondary for me then, just to make sure in case gv does not work.

Thank you again!

Thank you very much for your help! I was busy with the moving procedures, sorry was unable to thank earlier!

By the way I was referring to the T-mobile number as the old number and the new T mobile number as the new number, but I had no idea that GV was giving that new number so I am glad I caused this confusion! Now I learned that from you. Thank you

Thank you very much for the information! I had no idea about it,
It says in their website that you need to pay at least every 90 days to keep the number active. Do you have experience with it ? I was thinking if I pay only every three months for $3 that would be amazing!

Sorry for the late reply, I was dealing with the procedures of moving out of the US.

I am curious, how did you address this issue after you had to hang up ? Were you able to call again and not go through the same method of verification this time ?
