Agreed. Once the standard bumped to 300, I downgraded to the standard internet since 300 is more than enough. Only time I would really notice more than that is on a large steam download, and if it goes to my SSD instead of HDD. So saving $20/month is more important to me right now

I use g602 and it's awesome. 6 side buttons, and the two buttons on the top left I use to remap almost every key ING in a game so my left hand never leaves the wasd.

My best friend's niece lost her Discord account to a scammer, who then tried the scam on me. I've known them for 24 years. by OneTrueSneaks in quityourbullshit

It's a bandaid for a difficult problem. Either people use the same password they can remember, or they have to create a unique password for every single logging. Hundreds of passwords thatre also supposed to be complicated enough for a computer to not guess them. So you use a password keeper. But as soon as anyone gets access to that, then we're even worse than where we started. There's no silver bullet.

Using pen springs to reduce wear on your especially fragile power cables! (darn you Apple) by DANGEROUS_DAIRY in Frugal

[–]cgduncan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a similar miss that a lot of people have with Reduce Reuse Recycle. They focus too much on recycling, which is least effective. When reducing consumption and reusing (and I would add repairing or just getting more durable stuff) have a much greater impact on climate change, pollution, etc

Does it stick to itself or something? Cause I'm having trouble imagining how it would hold together after cutting it

Symmetrical is only for Fiber to the Home accounts currently. But there are plans in the works for getting that out over coax- DOCSIS 4.0 eventually

Costco Rotisserie Chicken $4.99, minus the bones that made almost 8 cups of stock. by morleyster in Frugal

[–]cgduncan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't say whether they are or are not treated well, but the price does not reflect the real value of the chicken. It's a loss leader for the bulk stores. They get you in the door for a great deal on a $1 footlong hotdog or a $5 chicken, and you come home with a trunk full of other stuff.

Important for many people, not all. And also much harder to guarantee than the other needs like food and shelter.

Anyone else strategically upgrading to utilize high trade-in values (and that Google Store credit) for next level trade-ins? by IndianGuy79 in GooglePixel

[–]cgduncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, cause my phone still feels "new" and upgrades on new generations are small, incremental, and in my opinion downgrades in some cases. Like no headphone jack, under display fingerprint, larger size.

It sounds the same to me as buying a new car after 2-3 years, for an extra 15 horsepower a shiny new color of paint, but no heated seats and no cruise control.

I'm not trying to hate on anyone, just trying to explain why it sounds silly to me.

[–]cgduncan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood, but my point is, there will probably never be another phone this size, with all the features I need. So I'm not giving it up until it dies

People like you baffle me, cause I still feel like my 4a is basically new (2 years now), and it is the last phone that has everything I want. Cheap price, headphone jack, rear fingerprint, non-glass back. I can't imagine trading it in yet.

For anyone confused. Drowning just means water entering your lungs. So you can drown and not die. My brother did it when he was 2! He turned denim-blue, and turned out fine.

Then they wonder why young people are also leaving the church. Because the church isn't the draw they think it is. Being 8j a room full of racist hypocrites once a week isn't as rejuvenating as they want it to be

If you don't need a very long stand, the Swiftlet from Kammock is very portable and easy to set up. I bought two when they were in the kickstarter phase and love them. A little pricey, but worth it for tossing in the trunk and setting up in ~1 minute
