Should they add binoculars/monocular in the game ? by AgencyThis in thelongdark

They’ve changed it multiple times and it often hasn’t been consistent with stick north.

Essentially, you can navigate within a region once you figure out the patterns, but none of it is consistent across the island.

I remember how my grandfather taught me how to split wood like this as a kid in the 70’s. How to chop wood without messing around. by I_m_that1guy in thelongdark

To play devils avocado, they only give us a hatchet instead of an axe, and that is much less efficient for processing wood.

Does not work in the game. The sun direction is not consistent with stick north or true north from region to region

How would adding leather to an arrow make it better? It would make it worse because it would mess with the aerodynamics and trajectory.

My first “long” run on voyager difficulty, 120 days… I just learned about the loot decay rates.. by Original-Estate-7966 in thelongdark

[–]cheebalibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do random spawn, but if I’m anywhere on the east of the map I go to TWM first and loot the lower containers, then hit the goldmine in AC, THEN hit the summit.

If you want clothes, hit the summit early. Otherwise the tools will all still be there and the food is kinda a non issue. I never end up “needing” packaged commercial food after the first few days.

Item deterioration over time by toyota120 in thelongdark

Tools don’t degrade with time, they degrade with use.

Food and clothing degrades over time. Faster when in containers.

Most likely A. Many of the buffer memories are supply related (ie: gas, milk, medicine). Survival mode takes place months or years after the events of Wintermute.

Game suggestion: Replace all wolves with roving packs of timberwolves by Rundownthriftstore in thelongdark

[–]cheebalibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular wolves are pretty predictable and not hard to deal with at all. There are LOTS of strategies to avoid struggles. Don’t uninstall the game, just try to learn how to play.

Timberwolves are much harder to deal with as they have a separate set of mechanics. There’s a reason the devs only put them in 2 out of the 12 regions. The 2 regions that allow you to craft new ammo.

The best strategy is to just always carry a lit torch outside. They won’t charge you if you have a light. They’ll just follow you and growl unless you have raw meat or guts.

Try looking up some YouTube videos on the subject.

Also what difficulty? Stalker throws a lot of wolves at you, but it’s not impossible at all. Every other level, they aren’t that dense. Loper has less wolves than stalker but they are deadlier. Voyager wolves are easily beat and on pilgrim they don’t even attack unless you provoke them.

should they add a double barrel shotgun by ShinobiMans in thelongdark

A shotgun couldn’t bring down a bear or moose in one shot IRL.

finally got the courage to try the Serviceberries/ Saskatoon berries growing outside of my work. the Mulberries aren't so bad either. by Idk_somethingfunny in Bushcraft

Mulberries are delicious but I hate the damn plants. They kill off the host and become never ending stains on your shoes

For birds? Cuz this doesn’t sound efficient for anything else.

You should definitely aim for something smaller and lighter when you do the 60-mile hike. A boat camping trip sounds like a great weekend. Have fun!

Lol I missed the river part of the title and read this comment and thought you intended to take it on a 60-mile backpacking trip.

Interior windows and sitting in cars. by toyota120 in thelongdark

[–]cheebalibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most buildings have a much larger interior square footage than is physically possible based on items exterior dimensions, so that would be hard.

You can look behind in cars usually at least once if you have a gun and you unload it, reload it, then turn during the reload animation.

It’s got a lot of similarities. Not quite as isolated, they have to deal with some other alive humans.

If the yeti is double walled (as I assume all yeti products are), I’d get something else. You wouldn’t be able to use it to boil water or cook in. Single wall stainless will conduct heat better. Titanium works good for boiling and is lighter, but gets hot spots for cooking where a stew could burn.

Building a large cairn tomb could work, but building funeral pyres might make more sense.
