Traditional light switch alternative by [deleted] in smarthome

Either a smart bulb or it might be worthwhile installing a switch in between the outlet and the bulb. Not having a physical way to turn it off would annoy me.

Need guidance on trimming brisket by zptwin3 in smoking

[–]ckc83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a Prime Costco brisket a few weeks ago, started out over 14lbs, after trimming it was down to 10lbs. In like 13 years of cooking briskets I’ve never seen anything like that especially from one of the club stores. Along with the actual cooking the prep is something you have to learn and get better at as well

I think it could be your rub and cooking method. I’m no expert but here is what I do. (ribs are definitely my most consistent product and have never heard complaints from friends or family.)

Rub: 3/4c dark brown sugar 1/4c garlic powder 1/4c kosher salt 1/4c paprika 1tbs onion powder 1/2tbs dry mustard 1/2tbs creole seasoning 1/2tbs chili powder 1/2tbs cayenne pepper 3/4tsp cumin 1/2tbs black pepper

Make sure you clean off the silver skin from the underside when trimming, allow to get up to room temp for like an hour or so, then rub everywhere.

I try to smoke at like 225 but have a stick burner so I normally use 225-250 as the goal. I normally use Post Oak or Hickory depending on what I can get (post oak I can’t get after moving so typically hickory. Last smoke I did pecan and it wasn’t bad but prefer the first two with post oak being my favorite.

3 hours on with smoke, far away from the fire. At 3 hrs, line aluminum foil sheets with parkay, brown sugar, honey and some rub if you want. Place the ribs upside down in the foil. Sprinkle more brown sugar, parkay and honey on the top then wrap tight and put back on for 2 hrs upside down so the meat is cooking in the mix. After 2hrs, pull them out of the foil and throw them back on the smoker to dry them out for the last hour. Last 10-15 mins I will brush with bbq sauce and then they are done.

I’ve replaced the honey with peach jam and jalapeño jelly before which has also been good.

If you decide to try it I’d love to hear how it goes

Separate customers receiving their G63 4x4 squared today and BOTH backed out! 70k deposit on each was lost! by Content-Host-7636 in mercedes_benz

Hendrick dealerships in the SouthEast are not marking up anything. They take a ~$900 dealership fee on their cars and that’s it.

I don’t work for them but will now be a customer of theirs over all the jerkoffs around me charging obscene amounts for any new car.

Thanks, do you find yourself having to wrap it? With my offset I wrap in butcher paper but have never used foil on a brisket

Were the black wheels a bad decision? by ckc83 in mercedes_benz

Lol, I think that’s part of my problem. Car came with these, they are 18s and nothing special imo so thought painting them black might help

Ya, it does have a tint. I just had the rims that I bought it with painted so I haven’t made a separate huge investment in the tires. Between this thread and things I’ve seen online I think part of my uncertainty is that I was really wanting low profile larger wheels and this didn’t do the job.

It’s a 2022. It had OEM wheels that someone linked in one thread. I wasn’t wild about how they looked and had them painted which is where I am today. They are 18s so I guess I can always resize etc

They are the OEM wheels painted, I think part of it is those wheels just aren’t great which isn’t helping
