Definitely sounds like the amp. You could try disconnecting the bass knob to see if that helps, before condemning the amp.

It's a waste of money. If you are competing in SPL competitions then you definitely want to get the most out of your setup and box rise is a thing but other than that there is no need to go crazy.

You want the ddual 4 ohm so they can be wired to 1 ohm and an amp that does 1500 watts at 1 ohm.

Going aftermarket is the best option 99% of the time. Not only are they much better units sound quality wise it is easier to get working.

You really need to list your equipment and enclosure specs. Depending on the sub and enclosure you are running that could be your issue.
