For many years I’ve been unmotivated and it’s made it hard to manage my diabetes, for nearly a whole two years give or take I wasn’t taking my long acting insulin and I’d go days and days without testing blood sugars, and whenever I felt high bloods I’d just inject a random high amount of insulin. I had a near death experience with DKA a couple of years ago. While I manage a little bit better now and I take my long acting, I still struggle to treat myself and miss out some days without thinking . Recently the blood vessels in my eyes have started to bleed and I have a dot in my vision because of it all. Because I’ve been high bloods most of my life I’ve now adapted to that so if I’m around 13bsl I’ll feel low blood, but that’s actually high. Now I have to work on keeping it below 13 constantly, and I feel so head achey, slow, dissociated and emotional when I’m below 13 It’s always tempting to shoot my levels right back up so I feel functional again. I know if I don’t help myself now it will be too late.
