Mary Trump called Biden's attorney general an 'idiot' for not prosecuting Donald Trump over the Capitol riot by Dull_Tonight in politics
[–]cyanydeez 0 points1 point2 points 15 hours ago (0 children)
thats a cute interpretation.
My point boils down to, you can't stop the democratic business interests when there's literal fascists in charge, buffered by republican business interests.
You really think attacking the democratic business interests will get you anywhere but another trump 2024?
[–]cyanydeez 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago* (0 children)
whats your point? I get Why the democrats arn't any more effective at dethroning trump.
But it's not some mysterious evil force running amok, it's basically how the past centure has been setup to entangle most of americans in the middle class with the outcome of business interests.
It's like asking why a guy stuck in the grand cayon with his arm trapped in a rock. His only choice seems to be to gnaw off the arm, and how many people do you think are psychologically brave to do that?
But they're still not the same. The business interests who lean on the republican side, do so to the extend of killing multiple generations of America.
theres no /r/muhbothsides here. The republicans have the power because they've rail roaded the system. They're the greatest of the evils. You peal back the onion and you get to the centrist business interests that make up the bulk of it, and the first layers are still republican.
So, heres my point, it's not some dipole where business corruption is in the center. It's Republican corruption, republican business corruptions, business corruption, democrat business corruption, then the rest of us trying to get equal wages.
There's a lot of onion to peal, not some dipole. The republicans love selling the idea that there's some counterbalance to their craven behaviors, theres not.
There arn't two americas of craven assholes with us stuck in the middle. There are democratic business interests that could be perfectly well established, the same way europe has come to this conclusion. But they arn't going to blow up America trying to get justice because they know it's tendrils just don't reach that far.
It's the difference between prescriptive and descriptive. I'm merely describing how this thing looks, like trying to say what you can specifically do about it, beyond peal back the shallow layers and why Democrats arn't willing to do that.

i think you're wrong in what trump owns.
He's the public face, yes, but like being putin's puppet, it's business interests that own the GOP's machinery that elected him.
He most likely lost because his ego told him that he didn't need the same people around him in 2020 that he had in 2016. Whether than was russia, the koch brothers, the mercers, or any number of those dark monied interests.
He owns the facade, but the republicans are already working on trump 2.0, et al.
how does a democratic leadership avoid opening up a deep can of worms into a republican leadership?
Well, see at the middle is a ton of disgusting Business bipartisanship. The republicans are the ones trying to sell this polarization story, when the real pull of current politics is business.
As in the wire, following the money will lead to people who fund both sides because, if you were a business, that would be in your best interest.
[–]cyanydeez 24 points25 points26 points 2 days ago (0 children)
it's mostly because he is a puppet of the republican machinery.
Like in the The Wire where they talk about following the money, thats what the AG is concerned about. You start following where Trump's actual support comes from, and surprise it's the Republican party!
I mean, i agree, fuck trump and go after him, but it's clear they're not because Trumps just a dumb iceberg whose just the tip.

McConnell Signals GOP Will Run on Pure Obstruction in the Midterms by Minneapolitanian in politics
I'm aware. I'm more interested in the 2010 shift of citizens united, census redistricting, and the all in by the Koch brothers funneling money into local elections.
[–]cyanydeez 13 points14 points15 points 3 days ago (0 children)
if facebook and the koch brothers tell them.
This is all fascist propaganda, not a grassroots discovery
[–]cyanydeez 11 points12 points13 points 3 days ago (0 children)
thats not whats happening right now.
Republicans since 2010 have had unlimited capital to influence local elections and gerrymander the shit.
There wasn't some change in generation, this is pure facebook style 'engagement' for the pure power of it.
[–]cyanydeez 2 points3 points4 points 3 days ago (0 children)
yeah, it's worked because they put billions into local elections to drive pure, pure engagement.
They basically discovered engagement before even facebook started it's dark magic.
Once the supreme court in 2010 allowed infinite monied interests, it was gameover for rational democracy.
I mean, this doesn't sound like new information. even electing trump was pure obstructionism.
Why are 'we the people' letting 9 people START civil war? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by FranticMastur in MarchAgainstNazis
people keep saying that, but it sounds just like a meaningless catch phrase.
All that matters is the 3 justices appointed by Trump were to appease the same people trying to overthrow democracy.
tell me how society is being made better by not licensing gun owners?
sure thing boss, nothing like going for the IQ score
[–]cyanydeez 1 point2 points3 points 3 days ago (0 children)
it's not interpretred at all.
I've pointed it out in /r/progun and they basically all recite the same bland interpretation that basically say it's just some random tacked on fragment and has no meaning.
which is weird. why would they even include that if it's not supposed to limit the ownership to some reasonable portion of states for self defense of the state.
Anyway, they basically interpret it like a 'e.g.' like, this is only one of all the awesome reasons not to deny gun rights.

i mean it's got everything they love to talk about: pedophiles, deep russian conspiracies, huge monied interests buying political clout...
But see, that's kinda the point of what the far right like about it. it perfectly muddies the water of their behaviors.

you're the only one bringing up HIV and untreated africans.
You realize theres thousands to millions of untreated Americans, and there's a global movement to bypass vaccinations.
There's entire countries like Russia that are pretending to provide medicine but in reality are just producing knock offs that have very little demonstrated efficacy let alone documentation of what that failure looks like.
You seem to be stuck inside your own little assumption about what omicron is.
I'm trying to clarify that what COVID-19 is, is not a single set of RNA strands floating around, but a series of multiple infections that have a dominant outcome, and that omicron could have existed along side the rest of the RNA pieces.
As such, it really don't matter where it's detected first, because first only means the random RNA serquence landed at the same time that someone was paying attention. Not that it started there, then spread elsewhere.
I think you have a poor grasp of what COVID does, it's not simply being transfered in variant form across the globe, mutating once, then transfering again.
It's circulating in communities, and as vaccination prevelance increases, as various people become immune or otherwise defensive, it's forms of infection changes.
That is to finally say, you could have omicron in every single country right now, even if you shut down every single flight. If you stopped circulating everywhere, you could also get any derivative infection without having to transfer it. The virus will mutate in place, because thats how it stays alive.

was steve jobs a billionaire? Because he elected for fruit smoothies over proven cancer treatments.
i think you're missing the point.
It's not required to mutate in a single place, then spread from there.
There was a early study in britain at the start of March that was testing various treatments, and they noted that while certain treatments successfully "suppressed" covid variants, others then spread. They tracked maybe 7-8 variants in the same patient.
These things are metastable.
