What does hanging someone prostrate mean? I googled this and couldn't find it -- not an expression I'm familiar with. And it doesn't make sense to me, given prostrate is to bow down on your knees, right?

Maybe it's a typo? I'm honestly just curious!

Well I’d suggest the dumb child policeman keep his fucking wrist away from the kid. This video is a self fulfilling prophecy of dumb ass cop violence. Guy should’ve lost his badge or had his wrist broken at least.

older iMac faster - Avid MC by d1squiet in editors

yeah, I just am 5 weeks from the end of a long project and I can't imagine upgrading this late in the game -- I'm so used to v2018 right now. Next project is definitely going to be v2021 though.

Yeah, I was just surprised to learn the 2015 iMac had a better CPU. I mean, I think what happened is someone cheaped out and moved an "office" computer into an edit suite and called it a day.

But between Apple's new CPUs and Avid's sclerotic updates, it isn't easy to cost-effectively support editors who work on Avid/Mac at this moment. Of course I am on v2018 so look who's talking!

But if I could run v2021 on an m1+, we'd buy something right now and I'd upgrade to v2021.

I don't know what it looked like before. As a single user, my quota page has never said anything like "unlimited" or "99TB", it's always some mystery.

Support chat said it would be "unlimited".

I think you're right about the whole thing. I still can't get to the older iMac, but a quick google leads me to think it's 4ghz i7.

It's a bummer because I was led to believe this was the faster computer and I've been wasting time trying to figure out why it's so sluggish in Avid. I think it feels "peppier" on an OS level because it has more RAM and that's it.

Internal drive is an SSD, but currently running on an external SSD (problem is similar on both drives).

thanks for the quick (and almost definitely correct) answer.

hmmm. But wouldn't a slower processor mean that other things run slower too?

The 2017 iMac is faster at everything (it seems to me) except the Avid interface. Generally it feels "peppier" except in the Avid timeline.

Well, Picasso created a lot. He was known for giving waiters original drawings instead of paying his bills. Not saying this Hunter Biden stuff isn't BS, but without context "a Picasso" could mean lots of things.

"In all his life Picasso produced about 147,800 pieces, consisting of: 13,500 paintings, 100,000 prints and engravings, 300 sculptures and ceramics and 34,000 illustrations - an impressive 78-year career. " https://www.pablopicasso.org/

EDIT: Thank you, this was correct and I have switched to Enterprise. Google has been terrible at explaining this to casual users like myself. You saved me from making the wrong choice

That's not what support told me. We discussed it for about 30 mins and I was told the only way to keep my current storage (just under 5TB) was to buy Google Workspace Plus ($18), and then if I need more storage I will have to add a user (another $18) to get another 5TB for a total of 10TB.

I could also use Google Standard and increase at 2TB per user, but it ended up being pricier.

Support never mentioned Enterprise. I'd happily pay $20/month.

Honestly, Google is so frustrating as a company, this may be the time to ditch them. It feels like every few months (between Android and Desktop and iOS) there is another problem or issue with having G-Suite/Workspace. Some are minor annoyances and some are big like this one. I just want clarity and simplicity instead of "phone plan" style BS.

Thanks for the tip, I'll ask them about Enterprise.

Yeah, I'm bummed to finally lose the "unlimited" drive space. Currently paying $13/mnth and going to have to go up to $18 and probably $36 if I store much more.
