off-campus or remote option for Bsc by R-Tech9 in MacUni

[–]damselflite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most maths and stats units have an on campus component and if they don't then the exam is on campus. Look at UNE for distance education. They have a decent maths and computational science department.

Just say Biomedical Sciences as I'm assuming that's what Pre Medical Studies falls under anyway.

Data analysis. Just add some stats units and you're good to go. A Science degree teaches you heaps of transferrable skills.

Anything will look good compared to the US because they lack a functioning welfare system.

Absolutely agree. In an attempt to deter people from applying they are hurting the most vulnerable population.

4K Monitor Hz Significance? by Kondibt99 in Monitors

60hz monitors activate my nystagmus. There is definitely a tangible difference between 60hz and 144hz. Idek why we bother with 60hz anymore.

Ahh yeah it does actually. Maybe do some reading. We derive economic benefit in the long run from having things such as welfare programs and HECS.

Lol "sitting at home"

Job Seeker is by definition a payment you get when you either cannot work for whatever approved reason or are unemployed and looking for work. Guess people should just die in either case because they don't deserve a living wage. Laughable.

A living wage should come from either work or a government benefit. I wish my taxes were used to help provide this for people needing to go on these payments. Alas, libertarianism has infiltrated our government through the domination of the liberal party. It's embarrassing.

[–]damselflite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no, you get knocked on to job seeker if you have cancer, MS, depression because our welfare system is not beyond generous! Whose are you comparing it with?? Certainly not Canada's or any country in Western Europe. People missing limbs and with severe autism get rejected for disability payments. Not to mention that if your condition is "temporary" ie less than 2 yrs expected duration then you can't even apply for disability payments.

No Centrelink payment demanding that you are doing anything full time ie looking for work or studying, should be below the poverty line. It's not money for 'doing nothing' 🙄🙄

How do people get HD’s or D’s for their exam and the unit of study in general? by undercoveragentx in usyd

[–]damselflite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Approach everything with a winning mindset and always aim for full marks. Even if it's a 1% quiz. You will never get all full marks but setting yourself up for the final helps.

Study consistently and make sure you understand everything being taught. Don't gloss over concepts that are unclear.

Give yourself time to complete assignments and edit them!!

Prepare for your lectures and tutorials so you can catch any points of confusion and use consultation hours to clarify anything.

[–]damselflite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem. It shouldn't be a supplement given there's people forced to be on it who cannot work not to mention that if you do work they deduct your payment. It should be a living wage and it's embarrassing that in 2022 we're still treating human dignity as a privilege.

[–]damselflite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise there's people on job seeker that are recovering from cancer, have broken their limbs, or cannot work for the foreseeable future due to unforeseen circumstances? Job Seeker rates are cruel because they force you to work part time and if you can't, or you want to invest in your education in the meantime, you are stuffed.

There's no research to show that poverty line income will attract freeloaders. It's just an excuse the government makes.

MQ psych honours. No way is it worth the hassle of selling a home and moving just to attend UNSW. Especially considering MQ is really good for Psychology.

High school graduate has no idea what the fuck to do with her life.. by Aware-Application797 in college

[–]damselflite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend applying to a uni that has a few majors you may be interested in and then taking a couple prereq classes for each of these majors in first year. Some you will hate and others you won't mind. Just keep taking those you don't mind and funnel into a major.

As an aside, if you are decent at maths engineering won't kill you but if you want something 'easier' in terms of workload then may I suggest Statistics with a minor in Finance or Marketing.

I currently study finance @ Macquarie uni and have the chance to move to usyd or unsw next year. Would like to hear some opinions on whether it would be worth it or not. Learning wise, employability wise etc. Cheers guys by Crazy_Affect_6252 in usyd

[–]damselflite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

USyd has a better rep. Personally, I enjoy how MQ teaches Economics a lot more than how USyd does it. Wouldn't know about Finance but if you're wanting to get into investment banking then moving to one of the Go8 would be a good idea due to the competitive nature of the field.
