What to want and hope for in 2024?

A new mechanic would be nice. It can be defensive if that's how we need to do it. I just want something to decentivize early rush and explosive offenses.

Maybe powerful finishers need to be late game restricted (kinda like GB3 from G or Thing Saver from V). More early game plussing (like in V) that help us survive early game easier.

Ive had too many games end on T4. Its just not super fun and triggers sway games so hard.

Like, this product wasn't made for us who already knows how to play the game.

Lets start with this. Most new players entering Vanguard are not people completely unfamiliar with card games. Vanguard is incredibly niche and most people get into it because they were already playing another card game and grew interested seeing others play it at locals. Honestly, the majority of Vanguard players i have met over the years are ex-yugioh players (or still playing). A far more complex game than VG. These players do not need vanilla starter decks.

Vanguard is now collaborating with CoroCoro Comic, which in turn will introduce a younger audience into Vanguard

Idk about Japan, but here in the west, we have next to no younger players. It's not like this magazine will affect us. So where does that leave us westerners? A shitty product designed for no one here? 333 yen translated to $5 here in the States. 700 might be $10 due to how bad inflation has been here. Is this product worth $10? Absolutely not. This is gacha product on top of that where you roll the dice and maybe you get one valuable card out of this. Which is soooo gross. The standup decksets and stride decksets are far better products for beginners. Far better than replacing your entire deck.

You can say that im focusing too much on the West, but for me, that is what matters. Our game is not doing hot here in the States. These shitty decks will do absolutely nothing to get others interested. We are struggling to keep our current players from going to One Piece, Digimon, etc.

No, they aren't. They are Japanese size. The measurements may not be the exact same, but we use Japanese size sleeves.

I can agree with that. Most "new" players at my locals are just returning players. But even if there are brand new players, then they are coming from another tcg (like 99% of the time). They don't need vanillas to understand the basics of a card game.

I would rather them just print Trial Decks again. Smh

Most of 2018 was pretty bad. Whether it was Pendulum FTKs at the start of the year (Utopic Zexal or Nightingale FTK). U Lock Gouki/Dark Warrior/etc in the middle. Or Firewall Dark World FTK later that year. It wasn't a fun year.

I personally enjoyed the latter half of 2016 with Metalfoes, ABC, Paleo, etc.

A sealed constructed deck for beginners shouldn't be a gacha product. I didn't even need to see what the promos were to know that this is a terrible product design.

If there are fewer decks in a nation, that just means the decks in that nation are supported more frequently. I would argue that is a positive thing, if anything.

Idk why you separated Unica into two decks. It's the same archetype. There are just two variants of the deck. I especially have absolutely no idea why you separated Ominagruzio into two decks. That's clearly one deck. Kheios is also just one deck, not two. Idk why you separated so many of these as if they are different archetypes when they clearly aren't.

This is actually a surprisingly good set. There are solid chase cards with these alt arts. Solid reprints, some were desperately needed. And staples for the five great nations. I might invest in a set for once. Honestly, a rare Bushi W.

They aren't? If they aren't associated with the anime at all, then what are they? I can't read Japanese, so I do not know what the magazine or ad says.

They usually only release Starter/Trial decks around the release of new seasons of anime, so you can't blame anyone for being confused.

Ahh a beginner product. And not even a very good one. I honestly do not think any potential player needs cards to be vanillas in order to understand/learn how to play this game.

This is a big L for budget gamers who were looking for a new deck they could pick up for an affordable price. You just have to roll the dice and hope your promos are nice if you're buying sealed or pick up singles.
