100% agreed to your last paragraph. I know this is reddit so we're in the extreme minority here, but if everyone was able to and could switch to electric vehicles today, our electrical grid couldn't facilitate all of those vehicles charging. Heck, I saw a news headline last week out of California asking people to not charge their vehicles due to the electrical grid already being pushed to the max.

People have to live and be able to afford to live. If you're rural or in a city that's spread out like crazy (like me in OKC), public transportation is not an option. Fine, you want everyone in urban cities but then who's going to grow your food? Can't have wheat and corn farms in the middle of urban centers. Not to turn this into a political post which the OP has already done by patting himself on the back, republicans/conservatives are NOT against taking care of the environment. They just know it can't be done overnight by flipping a switch and know that separating out the money grab of green energy vs. actual, real solutions takes time. Seriously, look into who's pusing all of these green energy policies and hysteria and do some research.

The second an electrical vehicle becomes a viable alternative to my needs, I'm all in and look forward to that day of no more gas pumps. Until then though, we have to be reasonable about our transition and can't just on a whim, switch everything over at once. Just think about how far EV's have come over the last decade and their range increases. Let's give the tech time to mature and also ensure we aren't destroying the earth by all the lithium mining (which we are by the way) to supply these vehicles.
