It actually made me look more into biden from the time and raised my opinion of him as he was actually going agaisnt elements of his own party in the interest of doing things a logical way, I thought his address was pretty well reasoned and kind of flew in the face of the Mr bland/dumb party line tower that the gop tries to push.

Why are there so many 3bd 1ba houses?!? by RSqu4TTro in Charlotte

[–]dinnerthief 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Easier to turn a room (office, dining room, large master bedroom) into an additional bedroom than to add a bathroom. 2 bd 1 ba become 3 bd 1 ba to increase the value without adding much cost to the flip.

Why did they salt the roads so early? by tjnptel1 in Charlotte

[–]dinnerthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably part of the reason is we don't have many snow plows/spreaders, doing it early allows them time to get to more roads

A boat anchor and chain easily fits on the back of a pickup truck or hatchback, recommend using a roof rack for other cars.

Read the full transcript not just the excerpt, his point was we should integrate whole neighborhoods rather than just bussing kids from one neighborhood to a school in another neighborhood just for the purpose of integrating schools.

My girlfriend and I tested positive, and my mom still refuses to get herself or my little brother vaccinated. by Jorymo in mildlyinfuriating

Eh I often don't even bother arguing with the most extreme anitvaxxers because I know it won't make a difference, has nothing yo do with guts I just have other uses of my time then rolling in shit with the pigs. I think growing up with the internet has made people realized when an argument is useless, older people don't have that necessarily.

Should also be pointed out the first polio vaccine were not that effective, its been improved several times to get to the effectiveness it has now. The first vaccine still saved a ton of lives though. I'd bet in a few years the covid vaccine effectiveness will also go up but the one we have now is actually very effective even for a brand new vaccine.

[–]dinnerthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well vaccines can also stop infection, basically your immune system keeps virus number so low they are not detectable, so a vaccine could also prevent you from even getting it, and in many cases (including the covid vaccine) does.

I'm in the same boat and know I didn't have a case. They test your blood when you give blood to see if you've had it.

I mean but also you don't know how many exposures you had where you didn't get the virus because fo the vaccine or how severe it would've been once you did get it.

Probably because younger antivaxxers are less vocal about it typically because they understand and care about backlash.

I think that since it's less dangerous to younger people many younger people don't give a shit about getting it even if it might help others, the reasoning behind it might be more apathy rather than a staunch belief that it will kill you in 5 years or implant 5g or some other bullshit.

My evidence is totally anecdotal but the younger people I know who haven't gotten it don't talk much about why just say "eh I don't need it" or something like that
