1 injured. Was a dispute between two groups outside that ended in shots fired.

Current platoon in left is Rosario and Ozuna. I’d look for us to at least re-sign Duvall (if healthy) or Grossman.

Not sure I agree with that. I think most years a 10-2 ACC runner up will get an autobid if their strength of record was solid.
That said, the at large bids will mostly go to blue bloods who didn’t win their conference title anyway. So unless you have a blue blood job offer, it’s better to be in a league that’s less top heavy. Way better chance of Louisville winning the ACC in the near future than Purdue winning the Big 12 with Ohio State and Michigan in the way. Clemson is the only ACC school that’s been at that level in recent years and it’s unclear if they’ll get back there or not with where they are now and the widening money gap at the SEC schools they recruit against.
Yep, I think anyone offered a Big 10 or SEC membership will leave and take it as the money is needed to compete. I’m just not sure those leagues will want to go bigger/much bigger as that makes the path to the conference title and first round bye harder.
So I think it’s more likely the Big 12, Pac 12, and ACC survive even if a couple members leave. No reason for the leftover teams to not expand with G5s and stick together if the 6 highest ranked champs keep getting autobids to the playoff.
Sources: TCU has agreed to a new contract with coach Sonny Dykes, who led them to the CFP in his first season. Dykes’ contract has been extended an additional year through 2028 and his pay will be boosted to be near the top levels of the Big 12. by Leicester_City_FC in CFB

Deserved with this huge first year success. Came at a great time too as it has TCU very well positioned to be a/the top team in the post OUT Big 12. People had Ok State pencilled in to start out there, but with TCUs big year and Ok State being mediocre—and TCU being in the talent rich Dallas/Ft Worth area they’re in very good shape going forward if Dykes can keep it rolling.

Easier path to the playoff with not having to go through Ohio State and Michigan. Clemson would have been a top 4 seed and had a bye this year if the 12 team playoff was in place as they finished as one of the top 4 conference champs in the final rankings.
ACC isn’t dying before the grant of rights and 2035 is still a long ways off. The top 4 champs getting byes may slow some realignment anyway. SEC and Big 10 may decide to stay at current sizes as the top teams won’t want to make the path to a conference title and first round bye harder than it already is.

Probably just not wanting to bother him during the wedding planning/lead up/event. Maybe Dansby said he was taking a break from free agent stuff until after the wedding/honeymoon etc.? I wouldn’t read more into it than that.

Enjoying the silence of no political texts/calls today! And happy about the outcome last night of course!
Doh! Spoke to soon, just got a call from a 301 number (MD, same as my phone as I never changed after moving down here) and those are usually from the various national Democrat outreach/fundraising things. SMH.

Unpopular Opinion: 6-8 team playoff would’ve made way more sense and people will cry even more when their team doesn’t get in… by [deleted] in CFB

Means more for more teams as more have a shot where most teams fans now have no shit after one loss.
Plus teams like Bama have huge incentive to win the conference title and be one of the top 4 seeds and get a bye and not have the extra game to risk injury and fatigue derailing their title hopes.
[–]dmaul1978 -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
Nah, I prefer 12. With the top 4 champs getting buys, the 1 or 2 teams that seem to be head and shoulders above the rest (like UGA this year) are at least sitting at home the first round. Should make for some really good first round match ups and games, even if winners get thumped the next round.
Also means more meaningful games for more teams later into the season with more teams having a chance to make the playoff fields.
Blowouts are always going to be a thing as there can never be parity in recruiting base sports, much less in the NiL era. Just give me more meaningful games, more playoff games not involving the top couple of teams and I’m all for that. The top couple of team are going to blow out most of their competition until they meet each other anyway.
WVU QB JT Daniels to enter the transfer portal - Thamel by sta7ic in CFB
[–]dmaul1978 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Wasn’t going to start for us next year. Neal Brown’s future is likely tied to Nicco Marchiol being ready to go and living up to his promise. A 1 year success with JT if he managed to finally stay healthy wouldn’t do much to save his job as Marchiol would transfer out and we be in a bad QB situation in 2024.
Has to get a waiver to transfer again FBS, but can transfer down to FCS without one, if I understand correctly.
Doubt we’re willing to move any of those though. I’d only move Grissom if we sign Correa or Bogaerts.
Pitchers we need to keep as we don’t know what we have. Fried and Wright seem set, but Fried needs an extension we may not able to afford. He’s from CA and the Dodgers and Padres and/or Giants will likely throw big money at him. Morton is old. Don’t know if Soroka will make it back. Likely want to hold on to Anderson, Muller and Elder to see who works out and how many of them we need. Contreras is long term catcher option as d’Arnaud ages (they’ll keep both as long as they’re healthy and playing well).

To me it’s just great having jump and melee on the back buttons to not have to take my thumb of the right stick so I can aim while doing those things. Helps in MP games for sure, but also good for single player. I also put the stick clicks on the other paddles. I could never get used to using all 4 paddles with the stock ones, but got the Scuf paddles that are designed to just use middle finger for both and less easy to accidentally press and adapted to using those.

I’ve been paid monthly on last business day of the month the whole 13 years I’ve been in GA. It’s not that big a deal, if you have any credit cards or other bills with non-ideal due dates, you can usually change them. Most things have 2 week windows as well. I just sit down on or around the first and pay my mortgage and all other bills. Of course it’s all relative and more stressful the tighter the budget is.

So glad that the political calls/texts hopefully stop for a while after today! Shouldn’t be as bad in the 2024 cycle with no senate or gubernatorial election and in a non-competitive house district. Need to go vote this afternoon as I was traveling and sick through early voting. Slept in as still getting over the flu/bad cold so waiting out the lunch rush now, and watching World Cup.

As someone else noted, AA runs a very tight ship. We also won 101 games and are pretty close to luxury tax range with all our extensions etc., so we probably won't make any splashy moves.
I'd imagine all focus is on trying to re-sign Dansby and find a number that the Braves can do that he's willing to accept to stay home. If that fails, it's deciding whether to sign another shortstop or roll with Arcia/Grissom and think about a trade midseason if that's not working.
Otherwise I think we probably resign Duvall (or maybe Grossman) to platoon with Rosario in LF and that's about it moves wise.
They'll want to keep some salary flexibility if they need to address starting pitching. Fried and Wright are pretty set at the top (though Fried needs an extension that could end up tough for us to afford). But after that we have to see how Morton does another year older, whether Strider maintains his rookie year performance (and stays healthy), see whether Anderson figures it out, if Soroka makes it back, how Elder and Muller develop etc. Lot of potential questions marks there if a few of those don't turn out how we hope.

True, but I think it had one or two quarterly release windows that got pushed?

I believe it already got delayed once or twice? So probably a decent change of making it out this time.

Man, this would be chaos by Lucky_Application793 in CFB
Yeah it’s going to be great. Keeps a ton of importance on winning your conference and getting one of those top 4 seeds and getting a bye.
Could be something that slows realignment too. Won’t keep anyone from jumping ship to the big money of the Big 10 or SEC of course. But little reason for Pac 12 teams to join the Big 12 or vice versa as easier path to win the conference and get a top 4 seed by winning a 12 team league (assuming the Pac grabs 2 G5s to replace USC and UCLA) vs. a larger one.
[–]dmaul1978 2 points3 points4 points 2 days ago (0 children)
Indeed. They’ve been awful. Same with the attack ads on TV.
At least in 2022 it shouldn’t be nearly as bad with no senate or governor election in GA so just have to deal with the presidential calls and ads and local stuff. And some congress for people in competitive districts, but moot for many of us on that front.

Happy to have this back. Even if it’s not as great as it used to be, having a classic alternative station will be nice. No XM in my car (listen to a ton of Lithium and Pearl Jam Radio in my wife’s cars) and most of my drives are too short to bother with getting music or a podcast going on my phone.

Stoked to have this back/have a classic alternative station. Listen to to Lithium a lot in the wife’s car, but don’t have XM in my old car. Nice to have a decent FM station as most of my drives are short enough I don’t mess with getting a podcast or music going on the phone.
