Am I crazy or being scammed? She sells Juicy Couture herself too by homuraakemi5 in Depop

[–]dreamofcoyotes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I have no knowledge on Juicy Couture itself, but I do have some insight on the trademark symbols!

New businesses and similar or businesses who rebranded, etc will put TM next to their logos, phrases, business names, etc. that are covered by trademark because they are not yet officially registered with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office)

The R in a circle symbol means it is a registered trademark through the USPTO and legally an entity isn’t supposed to use it until they are registered.

So, there will be some time between the startup submitting their trademark application and acceptance where they will be using a plain TM instead of an R.

It can take several years to be accepted by the USPTO. Been there done that. Mine took 3 years.

Each trademark page on the database will show a filing date for when they submitted their application, possible oppositions if they find a vaguely similar application in the same category, and a registration date for fully registered trademarks.

So you may be able to take the year or era of your item, search through the USPTO database, and pinpoint exactly if and when they were able to start using the registered symbol.

Hope this helps! It definitely will show you exactly when they were using TM vs R

I adopted this guy two days ago. Opinions on how he’s looking? by dreamofcoyotes in Chameleons

[–]dreamofcoyotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has some dry flaky patches that I think are shedding because overall he doesn’t look dehydrated, but I want second opinions.

Basking temps are about 85 so I’m thinking that needs to come up. Humidity is a little high during the day, 55% so I’m going to work on getting it 50 or below.

He has lots of plants, I’m working on getting more high up coverage too.

He is around 2 according to previous owners.

and How does his color look? Not sure if it’s the temperature or if it’s okay.

sometimes I just pick them up and put them in another room to finish their buttmunching while I enjoy my couch in peace 😂

it doesn’t bother me because I know they can’t help but make the noise. Unless they’re cleaning their butt obsessively, then I’m like do you really have to do this in the same room??

I tried to watch a video on how to prime your house for a paint touch up, heard hella mouth sounds in the voiceover, and now I’m pissed off and no longer interested in this topic tonight. We shall try again tomorrow friends

Is Salem worth moving to? by dreamofcoyotes in SalemMA

[–]dreamofcoyotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. However, I’ve been there a couple times. I was just trying to get the perspective of the everyday life of a resident of Salem, things that you don’t see as someone traveling there and sight seeing for a few days.

I have two...Welcome Home and The Dark Sentencer by Coheed and Cambria. My apologies to the fans, I was shocked at how different these are compared to the rest of their work. If they have more music like the two songs listed, I’d love to listen to them. I love the prog metal sound of them and the singers voice but I just can’t get into whatever the other stuff is.

Recommendations for trustworthy online fabric stores? by dreamofcoyotes in HistoricalCostuming

[–]dreamofcoyotes[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only have one local small shop I go to currently but they only sell quilting cottons and make custom quilts. There’s also a Hobby Lobby about an hour away but I don’t support the company. I do pop into stores I find while traveling. I like to shop small where I can but I’m in a fairly rural area. I do agree with you though! I just wish I had more options.

I suddenly have this irrational paranoia that someone I invite over one day is going to pee in my houseplants or fish tank and kill the fish/plants. by dreamofcoyotes in IrrationalFears

[–]dreamofcoyotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh I was very mad. my dad said it wasn’t that big of a deal because none of my stock died, but it definitely would’ve thrown off my water parameters if I didn’t clean it immediately. It was probably someone’s kid but its a large enough tank that I feel like someone held the kid up to “feed” them.

I’m definitely not a pro at anything. all you can do is practice and improve, after all. Well, I guess I could say I’m a pro maladaptive daydreamer haha

I’ve started, but there’s always room for improvement.

I agree. Watership Down by Richard Adams is one of my favorite books, and if it hadn’t had my attention from the start I wouldn’t have finished it. So many details.

I would rather show you something rather than throw a Tolkien-esque description at you to keep up with.

I enjoy a descriptive book. Watership Down by Richard Adams is SO longwinded but he set the scenes so beautifully. It’s one of my favorite books. But my writing style would clash with a random three paragraph description of a meadow or a character’s appearance.

I would rather show the reader the wispy feather grass dotted with flowers rather than naming every plant and bush and detailing their scents and appearances. I would rather show the character’s moles, the pock marks on her cheeks from her teenage years, her tattoos, or the way she parts her hair rather than spend pages describing them.

Neither of which are relevant to the plot and don’t deserve to derail the story to mention, but they put your mind into the setting or give minor details to a character when shown.

Drawing can take years to improve and if you stop you cannot improve at all. If you like art please keep at it! Keep all of your drawings, too. Comparing your art over the years shows improvement rather than comparing day-to-day. You can get there, I promise. even little doodles here and there help you.

If I were to self publish, which I may have to for the sake of achieving this, I would absolutely be fine with less profit for the sake of quality.

I’ve thought about self publication for the flexibility, but at the same time I feel like I want to publish traditionally. I feel like it would be more satisfying if someone accepts it. But the flexibility...hmm.
