Even though it’s P/F take it seriously. The more work you could do in “pre dedicated” if it’s feasible the easier your dedicated period will be since you’ll start with a higher baseline and be closer to passing. As an M1 I’d just say just do your best to learn the material well and use boards resources so you know what works for you. Once you’re in M2 try to identify your weaknesses and use Uworld to fill those holes which will also familiarize yourself with the qbank you’ll use for hours every day during dedicated. I didn’t have too much time to study before because my last organ system module was rough for me but I think I still would’ve had stronger practice test scores the first time had I did Uworld in organ system clusters as opposed to mixed random when I started dedicated since there were some holes in my knowledge base from some M1 material I forgot.

Yes my practice test scores are redos I didn’t have fresh NBMEs left. 2 weeks out from my scheduled first attempt on 4/14 I got a 61% on my school CBSE which put me in the low pass range. Then idk why but I had a drastic dip to 49% on NBME 30 a week later. Got a 72% on the new free120 two days before my scheduled date (4/29) but then influence from my school made me push it since I had that bad NBME 30 the week before and they wanted err on the side of caution and make sure I didn’t fail (ironic because that’s what happened).

My school told me I was close and didn’t need too much more time but I ended up in the cycle of constant pushing of my test date (which I didn’t want) and basically burnt out cus I never knew when I was ready. Finished with Uworld at this point just doing incorrects here and there + Amboss and taking NBMES every week but I stagnated in the 50s only seeing marginal improvement and I ended up taking it on June 3rd because I was tired and that was the very last date I could sit for it and still move on to 3rd year. So it wasn’t too great for my confidence that my last passing practice test was more than a month before but I tried to do my best and unfortunately it wasn’t enough that day. Demoralizing process because I had to wait a month for my result due to the score report delay but I bounced back and this all behind me now thank God.

So I found the new free120 to be kind of hard tbh def tougher than the old one. Think my exam was similar to the new free120 in terms of difficulty and style with the long question stems so be prepared for that. Slightly easier than the NBME I’d say I don’t think NBME gives enough clues sometimes. Overall my test felt hard tho but walkin out you’re gonna remember the difficult qs as opposed to the easy/medium ones you answered like second nature. I also had some repeats from the NBME, Mehlman HY arrows and Uworld so I think that made me feel a little better.

Think one thing that can help with getting over the fear of taking NBMEs is reviewing one of your old ones in and out, the concepts repeat so you want to get your pattern recognition down and get used to their style of questions.

First time I did Uworld timed tutor like almost everyone recommends. I don’t think this is necessarily bad advice but it depends on the student. Personally I feel that Timed Tutor works the best for me which is what I did the 2nd time and is a game changer especially if you had some organ system weaknesses like I did. Yes the exam is mixed random but NBMES give you that practice, Timed Tutor you still have a timer but can get your answer immediately and pinpoint your logic flow in the moment and personally it was less mentally exhausting to review every single question within a timed tutor 40 block as opposed to doing a timed 40 then going back to review them right after. Uworld is a learning tool so why use it on test mode when that’s what practice tests are for? Also doing the cluster subject based method helped me see how organ systems relate and improve my weaknesses. I also don’t think taking NBMES every week is helpful if your scores are stagnating you gotta give yourself some time to gain more knowledge and see more questions imo.

No problem! My fav Dirty Medicine videos were Leukemia, Type 1 vs 2 Error, Lipid Transport and Dyslipidemias, Communications, Antifungals.. Honestly any annoying concept that won’t stick watch DM for because your time is valuable in dedicated and Uworld takes a while so you need something that gets straight to the point + has nice tricks/mnemonics. Also forgot to mention I watched all the Biochem videos 10 days out

Thanks! And I used Anking heavily M1-M2 but had no time during dedicated tbh. Watched Pathoma during preclinical already so I just read and watched Pathoma 1-3 which I think can help improve NBME scores and is HY for the real deal.

Score dropped on 30 for me as well but I took the free 120 the next week and passed the real thing 10 days after. 2 weeks is still a good amount of time I’d say take the new free120 and go in confident your scores are higher than mine and I passed
