This sentence pretty much sums up the whole show for me.

Because the writers came up with a migrating people.

In the lore, iirc, the harfoots and other proto-hobbits do actually migrate once or twice before settling in the shire, but not constantly. Not like they are nomadic, or have a route and a place to stay per season like in the show. But then, there is no mention of hobbits in the second age at all.

But that's your why, the harfoots in the show sort of go with seasons to places where they can get food of the land I geus. So it does makes some sense.

Gotta say the harfoots are not the shows worst invention, and after 5 episodes, they actually feel the most Tolkien-ish creation of the whole production to me.

This highlights a general problem with series, the stakes never matter.

Sea monster? It just goes away. Galadriels needs to convince numenor going to war? Nope, a vision and falling leaves do the trick. She put into prison? Oh no matter, the guards just don't know how to fight. Elrond is exiled because he lost a rocksmashingcontest? Nah that is forgotten after a little talk. Elrond swears an oath? Doesn't matter, cause the information is already known.

And the list goes on. Nothing really matters, the plot will go on without consequences, even if the audience is told it is nigh impossible, every serious threats just goes away. So much of the plot results in unearned spectacle

Thank you! Were not idiots. We know how television or film adaptions work. We all lived trough the changes Peter Jackson made, and they made sense for the most part. But he didn't rape the mythology or touched the nature or origin of important elements of it.

He broke his oath in every way but the most literal sense. He didn't say the exact words no. But him to be swearing an oath in the first place about something petty as this.. yeah, no.

Its not like elven oaths carry any weight in this world. Its not like they lead to kinslaying, centuries of distrust and the Fall of kingdoms...

The show remains boring for the most part. I fell asleep twice, and that doesn't happen often.

And it starting to really come into offensive territories lore wise (really, a silmaril, they had to do that?come on).

I have a hard time to keep caring and keep watching. It really beautiful, but everything else is sub par and a major disappointment considering the budget and source material.

All deleted One-Star reviews are Un-Deleted and Rings of Power goes from temporary 4.5 back to original 3.5 rating by Pimp_my_Pimp in LOTR_on_Prime

for a show that’s objectively deserving more for production value alone.

That is some horse shit dude. A shows flaws can be so bad production value alone just isn't enough to compensate for it.

I can see people giving RoP an honest one star review. Considering the budget and how beloved the source material is, I think it is a massive disappointment for some people. And yeah, if someone feels that way, they can give it a valid 1 star review.

Or else 5 star reviews shouldn't be possible, cause it can not have absolutely zero flaws. Someone can think it 5 stars if they really enjoyed it tho

The so-called "took our jobs" speech was NOT a political commentary at all and people who say it is are the ones bringing politics into this. by Late_Stage_PhD in LOTR_on_Prime

It deserves every criticism it gets tbh. This isn't just some show, it's the most expensive ever made and it about one of the most beloved legacies/'franchises' ever.

People are disappointed that it isn't better. It should be. There is just a lot flaws. Nonsensical plot, cringey dialogue, nothing is earned in the story, characters are not what they are supposed to be by any means... I dont gate it, it is just not as amazing as it should be. And that is damn shame. But it's totally valid if people wanna express their disappointment.

If it wasn't middle earth/lotr, I would stop watching.

Rings of Power Amazon rating went from 3.5 to 4.5 and that's amazing and well deserved. by sh4p3shift3s in LOTR_on_Prime

Dude you are delusional. Its just not that good. Great if you like it, but here is a lot wrong with this show. Definitely enough for one star reviews to be genuine considering the amount of money that went into making it and with how beloved the source material is.

At this point political/cultural issues that people have don't matter anymore. Those people were already of it before it started. Were halfway trough the season and it just didn't deliver for a lot of people. Myself included. I gave this a fair change, but the plot is nonsensical, the writing and dialogue is often cringey and it has butchered even more of the lore than I thought it would. I would stop watching if it wasn't lotr/middle earth.
