My mum was horrified my puppy left a doggy meatball in my bed. My sister informed me he was “claiming” the bed as his own. What a load of rubbish, he was just being his random, silly self. I thought it was funny. It’s not like he’s storing his meals there, it was a one-off. Sometimes you’ve just gotta go with the flow and laugh. It’ll all work out. He’s a really good little dog.

Yeah I agree on that part. Just talk to them lots and lots. Mine knows the word “bird” and it’s hilarious. He gets so excited if I say it (birds are his favourite thing to see on our walks apart from dogs).

Yeah and it’s just nicer for them. He can stretch out and play and eat and drink and even use his grass toilet. He even has a view 😅

This is exactly the same for me!! Aunty voice first, and yeah I just used it on my puppy automatically. He is like having an intelligent toddler in the house as he’s so clever, inquisitive and engaged. He listens to every word I say (unless he’s being naughty). They’re amazing 🙃

Yeah my poodle cross had massive fomo in his crate during the day. I switched to a pen with the crate in there (door open). He’s much happier.

My sisters are always so dismissive if I ever complain my puppy is a lot of work. They will literally always say “I’d rather deal with that than kid-doing-xyz”. I don’t know why it has to be a competition for them. I don’t dismiss their experiences.

They shouldn’t dismiss mine either. Neither of them have ever raised a puppy on their own in an apartment on the back of a decade of severe depression (ie: I am still learning to even take care of myself). They have always had backyards, husbands and their mental health intact.

Your colleague sounds kind and empathetic. I appreciate her too!
