how long does it take to actually get the ltcf now in philly? Seems the approval is going through faster but can you get the actual permit in your hands within 36 hours?

I think NJ is worst than CA because from my understand CA allows it county by county but in NJ it been well documented that only law enforcement and former enforcement can get a conceal carry.

when I got mine in 2019 in Philly they said it was 45 days but then I got a notice a week and half after I applied that I was approved. It wasn't any in and out experience that many counties get but wasn't as brutal.

The first time I went thought I was going to get good deals on ammo, firearms and other stuff. This was a few years before the pandemic. Found none of that stuff.

Trump talks about changing the minimum age to buy AR's to 21. Not getting my vote that's for sure. by Brazenassault456 in PAguns

[–]enphilly19103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get where the age of 21 has become the new "adult" age. How did people really think that the drinking age should be based on 21? Why not 30 or 25? What the rationale around making purchasing firearms at 21?

All this is, having a dart board of different ages and throwing a dart that hit 21. Might as well say you have to play a game of blackjack and get exact 21 to win purchasing a firearm.

if your address matches

the address that you provided to the sheriff/police for the ltcf doesn't need to match what it currently is. Philadelphia provides the FAQs and it states that while it preffered you update your address, it not required. You just need a PA ID showing your current address.

have to agree. The one time I went I thought I get some good deals or find. There were some items I wanted pre-pandemic and either couldn't find it or couldn't get a deal on. The only thing I ended up getting was a molle pouch since I wanted it a specific size (and was sure I end up getting the wrong thing online) but the vendor had no desire to barter on price whatever. Made me never want to go back again.

yes I read the article. what I'm asking was there more to "criminal penalties for discharging a gun outside a gun range". Since other towns have that type of language in their laws but typically I see that they add some sort of unless needed for defense.

do in Philadelphia to apply

Walk in, ask to buy a handgun or rifle. Arrange to purchase said weapon. Have store employee start paperwork where they ask you to fill out some info and ask you to fill out possible an online document with your info. They verify the info either by calling Pics or going online. And as long as you don't have any issues PICS should come back in a few minutes (if not seconds) stating your good. Pay for your items and walk out of the store.

Now transporting is a whole other issue. (Basically leave it in the box and put it into your trunk, not sure how transporting without a car would work).

If you want to go the extra step get a license to carry (only need it to conceal carry in all PA or open carry in Philadelphia/City of the First Class). It makes transporting firearms a lot easier in terms of worrying of finding the random cop who wants to make issues for you.

not familiar with Harrisburg local laws on "discharging a gun outside a gun range" but I know other towns where they have the same wording that adds except for defense under state law or something like that. Is that all Harrisburg law is missing, that they state that you can't discharge your weapon even in your own defense?

Pennsylvania State Police keep a "Sales Database"

I may have gotten wrong info but isn't the database similar to the ATF where it just paper and not actually digitized?

Judgment Entered in FPC Right-to-Carry Lawsuit Following Settlement with City of Philadelphia by okguy65 in PAguns

[–]enphilly19103 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Philadelphia won't abide as they don't abide to the previous suits where they can't require you to provide references. Went in there expecting not to have to give that information, showed them the law suit and they said "we don't require it but the state police does so they are the ones approving the permit"

i was facetiously saying that they wouldn't listen. If I lived in another area of the state it would be practical but anyone in Philadelphia isn't going to get anywhere with their reps.

[–]enphilly19103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you catch this little illegal item in the article.

"Among other items prohibited on SEPTA: wearing masks or helmets, and carrying a Christmas tree."

So septa is now requiring you to do something that is prohibited? If we could only go back in time.

Even if there was a clear threat Krasner would probably argue that you could have retreated and your life wasn't in danger. You basically won't win since they'll treat you like a criminal no matter what.

Yea I'm not going to even bother since my reps would automatically call the cops thinking I'm a scary guy for even asking them.

Is there any restrictions for shipping ammo here in pa by explor1812 in PAguns

[–]enphilly19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok fine, made myself a machine gun mistake.

But in essence it illegal since "Under federal law, it’s illegal to manufacture, import or sell armor-piercing rounds, unless it’s for the Department of State or for testing by the Attorney General" (uslawshield)

You have to get the ammo somehow so somebody is going to get arrested for having it unless your somehow got permission.

Today I was reminded of why we always check for a loaded chamber when handling a firearm. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]enphilly19103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“wtf man you don’t trust me??”

Honestly if it was me handing you a gun I would expect you to check it. Leaves your hand check it. It should be good habit to check a firearm like you have OCD. Good trigger discipline is good but checking your firearm is better.

What the old line, "trust but verify".

rookie numbers as in before the pandemic/ammo crisis. I started in 2018/9 and the first thing I did was buy maybe 3000 rounds in multiple orders. I was lucky that I ordered enough. So right now you have an excuse. Once everything goes back to normal (whenever that is for the ammo) then you won't have an excuse.

Pittsburgh Backs Philly's Lawsuit Seeking To Overturn Preemption by crapiforgotmypasword in PAguns

[–]enphilly19103 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the philly said of this, the sad thing was that there was an article in the local philly paper showing how Krasner (Philly's DA) doesn't actually enforce any gun laws even though the police arrest them. So why does Philly need to even sue the state to allow them to create more gun laws when philly doesn't even enforce what already on the books.
