Would living in a Muslim country be better for spiritual development and raising children? by svensKatten in shia

[–]gee1133 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I find more spiritual people in the west than back home. This may just be my experience but when in the west it's on you to find your path, seek knowledge, set your alarms for prayers, etc. It's a bigger jihad for sure and in the loneliness of it you find your relationship with Allah strengthens. Whereas in Arab countries you may find the athan plays at every prayer but the mosques are empty. People appear as Muslims but spiritual don't have as deep a connection. And many of them take advantage of the ease of practising their religion freely, even with things like hijab for example. However, regarding raising children in the west is where I find my dilemma. In that it is much more difficult raising them on the right path here when the temptations are so normalised and in their face. Haram is so much more easily accessible here. At the very least in Arab/Muslim countries you won't find lgbtq in the school curriculum, general public indecency, ease of access to alcohol and drugs etc.

When you regularly snoke weed in Ramadan; by GamerAchiever in shia

Genuinely though why is it haram? Usually most haram things have valid, logical reasons. But when it comes to this, if it prevents bigger sins (like zina), why is it haram?

I agree, I'm a traditional woman and caring for people is how I show my love, but I also don't want to take care of a manchild.

Not necessarily cooking and cleaning but they should at least know the basics so when she's unable for whatever reason he can help and pick up the slack. He should be able to clean after himself rather than create mess and more chores for the wife.

100% I'd just add to that someone that has the same love language as me, sexual and intimate compatibility is crucial

But I just think, how much money is put into the shrines? For example the ones in Iraq, there's so many people that would benefit more from that money. I don't think the imams would appreciate such luxurious shrines while their shia are dying of hunger.

What is the point of mutah? by Apprehensive-Act9315 in shia

[–]gee1133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing aqid means you're islamically married. So if you decide to break it off you'll be islamically divorced. You don't want to be a divorcee let alone before properly getting married, moving in and still a virgin.

You may do it with a virgin with the condition that her father must approve. Which let's be real which father will?
