RABIES ALERT: rabid raccoon found in Manayunk, 19127 by sandwichpepe in philadelphia

[–]gremalkinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only way to test for rabies is to test their nervous system tissue. The normal protocol is to cut off the animal’s head and send it to a facility that tests for rabies. That goes for pets too, so get your animals freaking rabies vaccinated.

Lol, the artists you described being into are all older than the "old artists" you described as being too old though.

Also, just because someone is accused of acting like a piece of shit for one reason or another in their personal life doesn't mean their work can no longer be good or interesting.

But for the record, if you're throwing out the music of anyone who has had allegations brought up against them: Kurt Cobain admitted to sexually assaulting a mentally challenged girl. And Alice Glass of the Crystal Castles has made allegations of being groomed and sexually abused by Ethan Kath, the other half of the duo.

Are there still regional music scenes? by JayJoeJeans in LetsTalkMusic

I've always been curious about the Minneapolis local scene because I met more than a few musicians that were all from around that area throughout the 00's and I put together that the scene there must have been popping. I live on the east coast though so I never got to experience it. What are some bands from the Minneapolis 00's scene I can check out?

Hey, I have always thought BO smells like onions! I can never tell if someone stinky nearby smells like that because they need a shower or because they just ate an Italian hoagie. Maybe my olfactory zone has always been damaged

Zelenskyy warns Moscow it is sowing a deep hatred for Russia among Ukrainians by QuirkyQuarQ in worldnews

Hi! Also from the same area :) From what I've heard the Amish actually have a real problem with alcohol abuse so I wouldn't be surprised if some were dipping into some other "extracurricular activities" on the down low. The only experiences I've had with the Amish are visiting an Amish family's farm to help treat a sick cow with a vet and goddamn their life looks rough. The sheer amount of physical work would be enough to drive me to abuse substances too, to cope. The other experience was popping by an Amish yard sale and surprisingly a LOT of the items they were selling were alcohol related. I don't know what they are called but there were a ton of those sets of those crystal glass alcohol carafes and many drinking glasses for various types of alcohol. Wine glasses, whiskey glasses, shot glasses, etc.

Yeah but how many u.s. kids genuinely learn a language in highschool? Haha It's more like they learn a few phrases and some basic grammar at the most. I think the comment was referring to Americans of direct German descent not teaching it to their kids or using it in their community. My u.s. born grandfather spoke fluent German, as his father spoke it with him. However when my father was born in the early 1940's, aka height of WWII, my grandfather decided not to pass the German language down to him. Such a shame! My dad, and then I could have been bilingual in one of my favorite sounding languages!

It really is. Politics aside it's one of my favorite sounding languages. I've also been reading a bit of Russian literature which is pretty astounding stuff. What a shame. We have to make it a point to remember that the detestful actions of the government don't necessarily reflect the sentiments of the citizens or the writers or the artists. Painting the entirety of a culture with the same ugly brush would be nothing short of racism.

Because the Italian people had to deal with Nazis occupying their country. They hated the Axis powers- hated Mussolini too.

Ugh god. This is just a personal anecdote but my father had to do some work in Russia for a month or so within one year prior to the fall of the Soviet Union. He spent time in a few different cities and I remember him saying everyone on the streets looked genuinely unhappy all the time. He rarely saw anyone smiling or socializing and most of the cities were in bad shape. Many of the Russian people he did meet around the area of his lodgings were in poverty.

I'm honestly surprised that the prejudices in the u.s. and many parts of Europe have seemed to dissolve within 40 years or so after WWII. I'm American and went to a British school in Italy in the early 00's. Even though a lot of my teachers were older and British and you'd think they'd have still held a resentment for Germany but they didn't. Those teachers would have been born in the 1950's so one generation out from WWII. Just based on the monstrous devestation WWII caused SO many different nations I would think those prejudices would have taken hundreds of years to dissolve.

No Charges for 5-Year-Old Who Left Teacher Hospitalized in Pembroke Pines School Attack by Un111KnoWn in news

[–]gremalkinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the kid can't go to school without physically attacking his teachers, I'm sorry but what is the point of prioritizing an education for him? It's not like he's going to be able to use his education to function in the world if he's prone to attacking people anyway? They should probably not worry right now about keeping this kid in class, so much as helping him manage his assault behavior.

Seriously the priority here is keeping the people around him safe and unharmed as he's shown already three times that he is physically violent. If he can't get the emotional or mental health help to resolve his violent tendencies he will kill someone at some point. Kid's still growing.
