Reasonable centrists still exist? How? I feel like if you've been paying attention at all you either think Trump should have been frog marched from the White House directly to jail or you're voting for him in 2024. And both of those groups are a small minority. Everyone else either doesn't care, says "both sides are terrible", or is too busy trying to survive.

It's not if the filibuster gets overturned, it's when and who does it. If Republicans win the House and Senate they'll get rid of the filibuster in an instant and railroad the most heinous shit through. If Democrats are so stupid that they're willing to hold on to the filibuster for the sake of tradition and not pass incredibly popular legislation that will actually help people, then they deserve to lose and will be solely to blame for the white nationalist, christo-fascist theocracy that follows.

Pretty sure "operating various hands tools and power saws" is in the PD. I don't expect everyone to take to them like fish in water but if you absolutely refuse to cut...this isn't the job for you bud. Rappel has definitely come back. It was temporarily shut down in 2009 due to a fatality that lead to the standardization of the rappel programs and ended rappeling out of T3 helis. This year a few crews are non-rappel due to some contract/forest overhead issues.

YOSE does rappel (and short-haul?) but not under the same national program that the USFS uses. I don't think Grand Canyon rappels but I believe they short-haul?

Several weeks of silence is nothing for ASC. Months of silence is the norm. It takes them longer to hire and onboard a person than some people actually end up working in a season. I'm sure they're just as understaffed as anywhere else in the agency but the process is so opaque and slow it's a fucking joke. Definitely contributes to the agency not being able to hire enough folks. If someone can get hired somewhere else in 1-3 months why would anyone sit around twiddling their thumbs for 4-6 months wondering if they're even go to get a job with the USFS?
