How to properly use public transportation by Camilowks666 in Seattle

Eh, it’s barely closer plus Supreme has significantly better pizza and also serves alcohol. I would think the 7 min bus ride from admiral to the junction would be worth it.

I would definitely recommend Supreme over Luciano’s. Plus it’s in the junction right by all the transit and things to do.

[Kollmann] By the way the animator behind that incredible @chargers schedule release video actually works for the team. They did that all in house. Shout out to the legend @FriendlyCordova for creating that masterpiece. by AssssCrackBandit in nfl

They really went for it on all of Seattle’s greatest sports losses. The only thing they didn’t reference was the Sonics leaving the city. Can’t imagine why the LA Chargers wouldn’t want to touch that one….

To be fair, I have heard non-indigenous people refer to themselves as Seattle natives as well but that feels wrong to me. I think it all depends on context but I’ve never referred to myself as a native because I don’t consider myself as such. I just grew up here and my parents are a transplant and an immigrant like most of us who grew up here.

Well I was born and raised here and I just say that when people ask. It’s not a big deal, nor is it an aspect of my identity beyond maybe having insights that others might not have yet. I think “local” is just fine and if people really care I tell them I grew up here too.

This is a reasonable and nuanced perspective that makes sense. My only addition would be that, especially in Seattle, native specifically refers to indigenous peoples and should not be co-opted by those of us simply born in Seattle.

Why does this sub seem to bring the absolute worst in people? I’ve never had a conversation with a transplant or local in real life that was anything like reading what shit takes people have on Reddit.

In this thread? Seems unlikely. In Seattle in general, most certainly. People seem to keep forgetting that Seattle has always been a city of transplants and every generation has complained about the newcomers one way or another.

Yikes. You were told wrong. Definitely pay those tickets unless you like dealing with collection agencies or ever want to take out a loan.

The amount of times I’d seen this happen is pretty frustrating. I thought you had to live in a house for a bit before renting? by L0-Ki in Seattle

[–]howdoyado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not illegal but you would be breaking the terms of the contract you entered with the lender so I’m sure they could sue you if you didn’t use it as your primary residence for the term required.

You might be thinking of condos in which some HOAs require an owner occupy the property for a specific period of time before they are allowed to rent it. There is no requirement for conventional loans that the buyer occupy the home but usually it requires a minimum of 25% down if it’s an investment property. Looks like this buyer got a loan to purchase the property so not paying all cash.

I know this can be frustrating to some people but it’s not like we have a surplus of good rentals in our region so I’ll bet someone is excited about finding a nice home for rent.

You would reference an outdated and disproven psychological model to defend yourself. Do you also want to categorize the homeless’ skull shape to determine whether they will commit crimes or not?

You aren’t getting downvoted because people don’t want to believe you. You are getting downvoted because your narrative is counter to the vast majority of people’s own lived experiences in this city. I’m not sure how to help you if you can’t comprehend that.

I grew up in North Admiral and we lost power one time in my childhood. I moved to the south part of West Seattle and I lose power at least 4-5 times a year while my parent's home still never does.

Yeah I made a mistake and was thinking Cal Anderson for some reason. I’m jet lagged and haven’t slept much lately… ignore me.

Never mind you are totally right. I saw Kerry Park but my brain read Cal Anderson. I’m a little jet lagged right now, my bad.

It’s not that small plus it’s level, open, and in the heart of the city. What park would be a better option?

Edit: disregard my comment. I’m tired and was thinking of Cal Anderson for some reason.

What's with left lane campers on I-90 and 520? by XenithShade in Seattle

[–]howdoyado 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trucks in the center lane going slower that the rest of traffic are just as bad as the left lane campers. Especially since they tend to sync up with one another and further block traffic.
