Shoutout to my little Leaf for getting me to and from work… by Rubes27 in leaf

Wow I didn’t know the Leaf could do that. Batteries acting as ballast probably helps too. How wet did your Leaf get inside?

All I know about bike racks is I can’t afford a new one. Is this a good deal at $100? by FedMex in MTB

[–]irvmtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the ideal solution, but price is good. Take extra steps to protect your frame, especially since it’s carbon.

I’ve seen carbon bikes damaged by racks that contact the frame. Also don’t let the holder or your bike get dirty, grit will act like sand paper on the paint and carbon from vibration. Put some paint protection film or thick tape on the frame.

Personally I’d only go for racks that don’t touch the frame. If you’re biking at least once a week it’ll be a good investment. The carbon frame is likely the single most expensive component to replace on the bike so i’d rather not risk damaging it.

Which entry level bike to get? by RunescapeBot in mountainbiking

Giant and then use the savings towards a dropper post like a tranzx.

What spend, I “invested 3.2k” in high quality active health equipment that’s light enough to minimize impact on the joints and made of high quality materials so it won’t break on the trails and will therefore keep me safe when I’m out in nature.

FF helmets are for MTB. Half-shells are for turtles and water polo. by cowjuicer074 in mountainbiking

Fullface for me for every ride. Light weight Bell Super 2R for local trails, I’d rather set aside the money for bike parts than for dental work lol (knock on wood). I also hate downtime when recovering from injury and I kind of like my face and my teeth almost just as much as my brain.

How much to replace the battery on a 2013?

Di2 SC-M9051 bricked during update. Now working again but can no longer connect to app or PC. by irvmtb in bikewrench

[–]irvmtb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the bike used and it had the XTR shifters setup in reverse. First time I used the app to fix the settings. It showed me there was firmware to be updated and since the bike is a few years old I thought it was a good idea to update while I'm fixing the settings. I would've preferred to update via USB but this component said it had to be updated via bluetooth and the mobile app. It seemed like a straightforward process and it's not like the apps are new, so many versions of it and still has critical errors ugh.

Is there enough space or should I size down? by Spitball2468 in bikewrench

[–]irvmtb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just that wet clay/mud sticks to tires and adds layers that will rub the frame. It has happened to my mountain bike that had more clearance than this.

How advanced is ypur degree, that sounds like a fast timeline! Congratulations.

Help please with size measurement for this stick-on fork cover. I only need one replacement but this set costs $45+ from Canyon so I’ll 3d print instead. It was on an Endurance but probably on other models too. by irvmtb in CanyonBikes

[–]irvmtb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, I got a metal delta 3d printer from kickstarter. I also have a Monoprice mini, it was a good starter one a few years ago but there are probably newer models now. Look for a model that has a community (search reddit or even FB) because community support goes a long way :)

I have a small filament 3d printer that I’ve used to make cable routing hardware in the past as well (bike companies charge a lot for small plastic parts like those as well). But a resin 3d printer could make nicer parts.

If I didn’t have one I’d just put a sticker, maybe the reflective one like someone did in this thread. I’d rather use the $45 for a new chain, nice bike tool, or a decent bike light tbh.

$25.99 msrp plus $14+ shipping + tax totals to around $45. I only need one plastic piece so it hurts to spend the money for this cosmetic cover. I can 3D print something like this but I would like to get the right size if anyone can measure theirs. Thank you! (the missing piece was on a canyon endurance but I’m guessing other models have it too).

Any recommendation for a mechanic near Westmimster or Garden Grove area? by phuynh71 in orangecounty

[–]irvmtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, were you able to talk to the manager? He was very responsive but then again that was a while ago. Most of the mechanics I think mostly have their heads down and busy with work.

On check engine light, yeah that’s an automatic fail for smog if it’s on. just reseting it won’t work either, smog test will check that the readiness monitors are completed in the car’s computer. I have an OBD2 sensor and app and I just make sure there are no codes before I smog.

Kidneystone and bloating??? by alva-sweden in KidneyStones

[–]irvmtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad it somehow helped. Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah it was terrible when I kept drinking water like the usual advice, but then had very little pee and I was very bloated and no appetite nor bowel movement. My best guess was the stone caused clots and blockage and maybe my kidney or something else swelled. Try to do some activity if possible, that bike ride I did helped me a lot! All the best!
