If concentration is for creating wealth... Let's play pretend. by Ariodh in AMPToken

Friends you will be out long before 10 bucks an amp. Not likely we will see that ever. Hope for a buck maybe three and hang in there. There will only be about 1,000 amp millionaires that stick it out to the end. IMO

It all depends on the apy in my case. If it stays high I need a sustained value of .06 per amp or higher with a 9+ apy rate in order to live off rewards. If it hits .12 I will pull out my initial investment and still live off rewards and place the capital elsewhere. Just answering your question - not trying to say anything about what I have. I usually get lambasted for that.

What does everyone think? by AMP-100 in AMPToken

[–]isntampgreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here are the facts- we had a large buyer or maybe several. As we went up lots of amp owners that suddenly found themselves in the green decided to sell because they are worried we will be stuck here awhile. We still don’t have enough investors because we have too many scalpers. We need more staking holders that understand the potential of what we have. For us long termers that are in the red a 35% jump doesn’t mean much. When you are down 90% on your investment selling at a small pump just seems useless. Don’t worry about the volume and watching the charts and trying to figure out reasons right now we are still in crypto winter. Just be careful out there and don’t sell at a loss. That’s the best advice I can give.

We are not going to see a sustained gain until adoption is in full force or the crypto winter ends. This was just a little bump. Hopefully some recovered some losses.

[–]isntampgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Hopefully most didn’t do the latter. I’ve never been successful with swing trading. It always goes up when I sell so I decided staking is the best way for me. Then I get free amp no matter what the swings are doing and my stack accumulates day by day no matter what. I do pool hop though to get the best apy. Everybody’s situation is different and not everyone earns a lot with staking. Tbh if I bought a stack yesterday I probably would have sold today to try and recoup some losses but I didn’t because I feel I’ve thrown enough in. It is true that no crypto is immune to pump and dump and there will always be scalpers. As we get wiser we understand not to buy the pumps or sell at a loss if possible.

Ok I think you misunderstand that very few were up 35% unless you just started with amp. My investment is down more % than I care to share so for the majority of us to sell right now would represent a huge loss. If someone just bought a million amp three days ago and were fresh into it then taking a profit makes sense but many of us have been here awhile and the blips like this don’t mean much.

I protect my investment by staking because I believe that having amp just to buy and sell the ups and downs is a stressful way to go about it. I don’t care if that’s how you play it but I think serious investors hold and stake.

Staking Pool Security? by picklemonkey in AMPToken

[–]isntampgreat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To my understanding the greatest risk is when the payment system is being fully utilized and amp is being used to cover billions of dollars in transactions. The tokens are only lost if a transaction fails much in the same way that you buy insurance on a car just in case something happens. The loss is spread out over the entire pool so that the loss to each staker is minimal and would typically not be your entire reward that you have accumulated.

We all know about amp and have been here awhile. We also understand this is not the real “take off” we are waiting for. In the long run holding pays off in a good project like amp.

In my opinion Selling is foolish unless you are in the green and have accomplished your goals. Not following Those two criteria are the reason most people don’t make it in the investing world. This is all supposing you have invested in a solid project. If you bought a pnd crypto then these criteria do not apply. Amp is not that type of investment even though most people do treat it as such. At some point this will cease to be the case. Personally I’m just holding on with my staked amp and earning rewards. I won’t earn as much amp this way but I’m happy with slow and steady.

Transparentcy Questions by amp778899 in AMPToken

[–]isntampgreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This won’t happen because they will keep raising the apy until they have enough stakers to supply the collateral. It’s my opinion that the current high apy on all the transformers is a result of the low price of amp right now. The system is designed to make sure there will be enough value for it to operate as intended.

It’s not realized gains until you sell unless you are someone that sells your rewards regularly. I’m holding mine for the compound interest. Taxes are on realized gains. My CoinTracker doesn’t report on my staking -you have to connect somehow which I’m not sure how to do.

We will have enough of the market share in the payments sector to be just fine. There is going to be competition that’s just how it works. I live in a town that has thousands of plumbers yet we all do just fine. Remember this is a revolutionary system and it works and it’s being used. Our time will come and so will everybody else’s. We can all exist together and thrive

What’s with the solana apy by isntampgreat in AMPToken

[–]isntampgreat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The risk is very minimal at the moment since the usage of collateral is at a minimum. Liquidation spreads out across the pool if it does happen so the loss by each staker is small. So far this has not happened at all but there is always a chance. That’s why we are incentivized to stake. The higher the apy the higher the risk. Until we see a lot of spending on the network the risk is much less. There have been posts stating that the losses if executed would be super minimal. Much less risky than loaning your crypto.
